My passion and specialty is couples and family therapy. I love working with couples and families who feel stuck in recurring conflict, disconnected, or uncertain about the future of their relationship. My approach combines structured assessment, practical communication tools, and deeper emotional work to help partners break negative communication cycles, rebuild trust after betrayal or hurt, strengthen friendship and emotional intimacy, and navigate parenting, stress, or life transitions as a team.

I am a licensed clinical social worker, working with individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents. I use interactive play therapy with children, I teach cognitive therapy (CBT) skills as well as dialectical behavior skills (DBT). I have also been trained in EMDR, which is specific to trauma treatment. I use these and other therapeutic interventions to assist my clients in improving strategies to better regulate emotions, tolerate and work through emotional distress, confront and change faulty thinking patterns, develop healthy boundaries, and improve communication patterns. Problems don't just go away, it takes work, courage, and a strong heart.

Feeling stuck? Like things aren’t changing? Wondering if your relationship with your spouse or partner will ever improve or if you will just continue in the same cyclical patterns? You might be feeling lonelier than ever as you wrestle with these questions quietly in your heart. You wonder who you can talk to as everyone around you seems to be biased in someway. You know you need a space to think your own thoughts and figure this out for yourself. Or perhaps you struggle with crippling anxiety that has lead to some avoidant behaviors. Either way, you know you want to regain your confidence and feel better.

I know how heavy the cycles of grief can feel, and how quiet yet deafening the struggle of infertility can be.
I believe therapy should blend understanding your past with taking action today. I use Person-Centered therapy to ensure you feel heard and supported, while integrating CBT to help you shift the thought patterns that keep you stuck. I also use Solution-Focused strategies and Motivational Interviewing to help you build a clear path forward.

Life can take its toll on our mental and emotional health. Through therapy, we learn that "We are not what happened to us, we are what we wish to become"- Carl Jung. Life can be challenging and overwhelming when dealing with work, school, or family stressors. Therapy is a great way to learn new skills to improve relationships, develop coping skills, let go of painful emotions, and find a deeper meaning in life. I will consistently show up for you despite your circumstances. I will show unconditional positive regard as you strengthen yourself and your relationships.

I help adults in Utah who are feeling overwhelmed by grief, the impacts of another's addiction, or by anxiety (including scrupulosity) find increased understanding, acceptance, and connection.
Exploring and building awareness around your lived experiences can help increase understanding and compassion towards yourself and others. We often wonder why we think or behave the way we do. Incorporating some curiosity and adjusting how you see yourself can lead to increased acceptance, trust, and confidence in yourself and others.

No Waitlist - Immediate Openings at new Private Practice in Centerville (or via telehealth) My therapy style is a healthy balance of empathy and coaching. I lean into validation and warmth, and yet I’m also a straightforward communicator to help you succeed. I support adults (primarily women 18+ yrs) and couples (pre-marital/marital). I use a variety of therapy models but focus on Solution-Focused Therapy (SFBT). This style helps clients recognize their inherent strengths and overall resilience when facing challenges. I also use Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
