I am a licensed clinical social worker, working with individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents. I use interactive play therapy with children, I teach cognitive therapy (CBT) skills as well as dialectical behavior skills (DBT). I have also been trained in EMDR, which is specific to trauma treatment. I use these and other therapeutic interventions to assist my clients in improving strategies to better regulate emotions, tolerate and work through emotional distress, confront and change faulty thinking patterns, develop healthy boundaries, and improve communication patterns. Problems don't just go away, it takes work, courage, and a strong heart.

We live in the "information age" where there is so much information coming at us that it's common to feel overwhelmed and not know where to start when pursuing personal growth. If that describes you (or your relationships) I can help. Through 25+ years of practice, I've refined a number of ways to help clients identify their roadblocks and move past them toward the goals they want to achieve. I am here to work for you and your success, and my clients have described our time together as positive, fun, and energizing. I don't have an agenda other than to help you get what you came for. Let's work together and build on your dreams.

Hi, I'm Gano! I've been a therapist since 2019 and have experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds, ages, and issues. I consider therapy a partnership between my you and I. We are there to work together, both providing our knowledge, point of view, and expertise to work together on your goals. As far as the type of therapy I provide, I am eclectic and draw from various styles and theories of therapy to figure out what best fits for you. There are tons of different kinds of therapy that are all valid, but not every type works for every person. My job is to fit the therapy to you, not to fit you into the therapy.

I prioritize showing up as a real person in the therapy room. Clients often tell me they feel comfortable being fully themselves in our sessions, whether they’re navigating anxiety, faith transitions, self-worth, or the messy in-betweens of being human. My own journey (from growing up in a high-control religious group to finding meaning and freedom in nature and music festivals) has shaped my understanding of how culture and systems impact our lives. I’m passionate about helping people untangle beliefs that no longer serve them, set healthy boundaries, process grief, reduce anxiety, and build more authentic relationships.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
