I want to help people that are struggling with mental health symptoms like anxiety,
depression, relationship struggles, and mood disorders (i.e. bipolar disorder). I
understand that people want to be heard and understood. I recognize the importance of
helping navigate struggles instead of telling someone what to do. I see the benefit of
helping people challenge their thoughts and explore how to make changes that support
a healthy life.

You may look fine on the outside, but alcohol has started to cost you more than you want to admit.
Maybe you’ve tried to cut back, promised yourself this time would be different, or felt the shame and frustration of ending up in the same place again. Drinking is affecting your peace of mind, your relationships, and the way you feel about yourself. You don’t just want to stop the cycle—you want to feel in control again.

I find a significant importance in helping individuals of any kind identify their worth. Everyone deserves to feel and be their best selves. My goal is to help my clients instill the hope that they have the capability of getting to that point. Shame, guilt, negative self-talk, and trauma are some of the many barriers that prevent us from living to our full potential. When someone is ready and willing to add to their self-care tool belt, it provides an opportunity to heal from their adversities and strengthen their love for the self.

I believe that healing happens when we create a sense of internal safety, even in the face of overwhelming external stressors. I guide clients to develop the tools necessary to regulate emotions, manage distress, and improve relationships. By incorporating somatic techniques, I help clients reconnect with their bodies as essential partners in the healing process, often a crucial step in working through trauma. Mindfulness weaves through all of this work, grounding us in the present moment and building greater self-awareness.

Alcohol Use Therapists
Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.
How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.
How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
