I am certified in EMDR for trauma processing and ERP for anxiety and OCD.
Life can start to feel overwhelming, like you’re stuck in your own head, constantly on edge unable to get away from intrusive thoughts or pulled back into past experiences you can’t quite shake. Anxiety, ADHD, or trauma make it hard to feel present, connected, or even like yourself. You might be navigating this on your own, or you might be a parent watching your teen struggle with anxiety, identity, or emotional overwhelm and not knowing how to help. You don’t have to figure it out alone. I work with teens (10+) and adults to create a space that feels steady, supportive and free of judgment particularly for LGBTQIA+ individuals.

I specialize in helping individuals heal from trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and the effects of chronic stress and emotional overwhelm. Therapy can be a place where you finally have space to slow down, understand what you are feeling, and begin to feel more like yourself again.

I have training in ADHD, EMDR, DBT, and Mind Body Bridging.
Your experience, your feelings, and your journey matter to me. I believe all people have value and you deserve to take up space! I have been working in the field of social work for almost twenty years and in my time, I have learned that people need a safe place to let their emotions out and discover healing from their trauma. Sometimes we also just need to learn tools and skills to navigate those thoughts and emotions. Let’s talk through it and if you just want to focus on skills or if you want to dive right into the deep end to process traumas, let’s figure that out together! I am LGBTQIA+ affirming.

I blend EMDR with nervous system regulation from the beginning of therapy to help your body and mind process trauma safely.
After betrayal, it can feel like your entire life has been shattered. Your mind keeps replaying what happened and you cannot stop thinking about it. One moment you feel angry, the next you feel scared, alone, or like you might be going crazy. Many women come to therapy after betrayal or relationship trauma feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and unsure what to do next in their marriage or relationship. I work with young adults, adults, and seniors navigating betrayal trauma, complex trauma, anxiety, and depression who want help understanding what happened, processing the trauma, and beginning to feel steady again.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
