When you’ve spent years caring for everyone else, it can feel almost impossible to turn that care inward. You might appear strong, but inside you feel disconnected — from yourself, your emotions, and sometimes even from the people you love most. At Very Well Therapy, I help you slow down, release shame, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been working so hard to protect you. Together, we’ll create space for healing that feels safe, compassionate, and sustainable. I believe healing happens in relationship — with ourselves, our emotions, and others. Many of us have learned to survive by disconnecting from our true self.

You shouldn’t have to carry the weight of the world, but lately, it seems like you do. You have learned about this recent diagnosis and its overwelming you. You wake up already overwhelmed, resist the needed change, and worry constantly. You're heartbroken and wondering if this is just a phase or something more. You're looking for answers, for real relief, and for someone who can help you feel confident, calm, and safe again. Most of all, you want to smile and enjoy your life.

Do you wake up every morning and think "I can’t get out of bed”? It seems like too much right now! You peel yourself out of bed anyway, because you know you have to get going. You have to do all the “things” to make the world function for the humans in your life, but some days it feels like too much. You think this shouldn’t be this hard. I should know what to do and yet you still don’t make any change. You turn on the podcasts and the audiobooks, but no matter how many you listen to you just cannot get yourself to make lasting change. If you could just talk this out maybe you would not feel so stuck and so alone.

Need help today? I have openings! It's been a rough few years—thanks, 2020! But I see you. I know you've been running yourself ragged trying to make your life work. You're exhausted, dissatisfied, and increasingly uninspired. People are trying to compliment you, saying 'You're doing great!' but you get in your head, and it's a negative spiral. You used to thrive, but now you feel lost, lonely, and dissatisfied. Your anxiety and depression are keeping you stuck, so you find yourself coping with your new best friend Netflix and withdrawing from life. Something has to change!

Men, are you facing challenges that feel difficult to talk about or even put into words? Many men are taught to handle problems on their own, push through difficult emotions, or keep their struggles to themselves. Over time, this can contribute to stress, disconnection, relationship difficulties, anger, anxiety, depression, burnout, or a sense of losing touch with yourself. Whether you're struggling with relationships, work, identity, emotional expression, life transitions, fatherhood, divorce, grief, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can provide a place to slow down and understand what is happening beneath the surface.

Life can be a fulfilling and challenging journey. It is part of the human experience to need support at different times depending on our life stage or situation. Seeking support can be intimidating. Since 2008, I have been collaboratively working with individuals of all ages to begin their journey in personal growth. I believe in a holistic, integrated approach to mental health that promotes wellness through alignment with personal beliefs and values, attention to the mind-body connection, and intentional lifestyle choices, while recognizing the ways our broader global metacrisis influences our individual and collective well-being.

You finally got the kids off to school. The house is quiet for the first time all morning, and you finally have a minute to yourself. You sit down “just for a second,” pick up your phone, and somehow an hour disappears. Then comes the guilt. I should have gotten something done. Why did I just waste all that time? But here's the thing, you're NOT lazy. You’re exhausted from constantly thinking about what everyone else needs. You spend so much time making sure the kids are okay, the house is running, being the chauffeur, etc.. that when you finally have time for you, you don’t even know what to do to recharge.

You may be tired of feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or like you’re carrying more than anyone realizes. I work primarily with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, relationship challenges, or difficult family dynamics. I’m especially drawn to helping people who learned early to put their own needs aside. Together, we’ll make sense of what you’ve been carrying, understand the patterns keeping you stuck, and help you move forward with greater confidence, healthier boundaries, and a stronger sense of yourself.

Life can be incredibly complex, and at times, we may find ourselves weighed down by persistent sadness, anxiety, or negative thoughts that seem to cloud our ability to move forward. Whether these feelings stem from everyday stressors, unresolved past experiences and traumatic events, or underlying mood disorders, they can shape how we see ourselves and the world around us.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
