Desperately wrestling the couch cushions into a configuration that won’t kill your back, you finally break down into helpless tears. Your marriage is in tatters and you’re hanging on by a thread. Between your children and your careers, you’ve had nothing left for each other. It feels like you’ve forgotten how to enjoy one another’s company. You feel like a stranger in your own home. It’s either constant bickering or frigid silence. Getting older, you realize you don’t have the energy for either – and this couch brutalizing your spine. You’d do anything to get your best friend back. You need help before this distance grows too great
I have a passion for working with people from all walks of life. Oftentimes we may feel alone or like our problems are so great they cannot be overcome. Other times people feel a lot of shame about reaching out for help and see it as a sign of weakness or failure. I can assure you that you are not alone in your suffering or with your specific problems. Change, connection, and relief from mental and emotional suffering is possible. It is important to remember that we humans are social creatures and that reaching out for connection and support is built in to who we are, not a sign of weakness.
Healing is difficult, and it certainly isn't linear. I believe one of the best ways to work through emotional pain is to first allow yourself to feel it. I often work to help clients change their relationship with their emotions from one of avoidance to acceptance. I see value in attending to emotional injuries and pain, while also attending to the influence of early experiences. I strive to be culturally responsive in my work, and place a great emphasis on developing a strong, authentic connection with my clients. Most importantly, I highly value flexibility, and believe treatment should ultimately be adapted for each individual.
For awhile now you have felt like something is “off,” that something in your life you used to count on is missing. It’s terrifying to feel like the sense of who you are is now fundamentally different or even gone. Maybe there was a distinct moment or maybe it was more gradual, but you are now in a place that feels unfamiliar. Whatever your journey has been to get to this moment you’ve decided it’s not something you can continue ignoring. You want nothing more than to reclaim a sense of identity and purpose; a sense of control, to transition through this moment on your own terms. Feeling MEH about it all? It's time to make a change!

ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS; I recently started a private practice after working for UNI for 4 years, and previously practiced in Brooklyn. Most people think therapy is going to someone to vent at and receive endless empathy; that's nice, but where has that gotten you? I get to the root of the problem/s; my clients experience an interactive therapy that produces results. My methods are directive, down to earth, and engaging for both children and adults. We all develop habits that serve us in the moment, only to discover that those same behaviors and narratives are keeping us from getting what we want out of life and relationships.
