Somatic Therapists in American Fork, UT
My holistic, somatic approach integrates mind, body, and environment, with curiosity about how biological treatments can complement traditional therapy.
As a Certified Social Worker, I strive to create a warm, genuine, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow. Together, we’ll explore what’s holding you back and discover new possibilities for healing and change.
Before joining Stella Mental Health, I supported individuals and families across behavioral health, corrections, education, and women’s wellness settings. These experiences taught me the importance of compassion, perspective, and humor in healing, which are values I bring to every therapeutic session.

I have a certification in Integrative Somatic Trauma Healing.
I recognize that you are taking the first big step toward healing and helping yourself by seeking therapy, and I'm ready to sit with you and safely explore what may be too painful and confusing to sit with alone. I prioritize understanding you within the context of social justice and take into account your unique relation to it all. I am somatically oriented, meaning that what your body holds points you toward release and healing. I work with the nervous system and the body to access emotional memory, gently work with trauma, and co-create ways for you to feel empowered and whole.

Anxiety is a profoundly human experience that can touch anyone, often during significant life changes like welcoming a new child, beginning college, losing a loved one, or starting a new job. These transitions can feel daunting, and it's completely normal to feel overwhelmed by stress. Grief, too, is a natural response to loss, and navigating these emotions can be challenging. Please know that you are not alone in this journey. I see you, and I am here to support you in developing the skills you need to heal and find peace. Together, we can work towards a brighter, more hopeful future.

My approach combines Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), CBT, attachment-based and somatic work, and feminist therapy.
Are you a woman who has spent years putting everyone else first — managing the needs around you while quietly losing track of your own? You may feel exhausted, disconnected from yourself, or uncertain how you got here. If you've been shaped by difficult relationships, faith or cultural pressure, family expectations, or past trauma, you already know that carrying it alone isn't working. Therapy here is a space where your voice is finally treated as the authority on your own life. You don't have to shrink to fit here.

How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
