It has been my great fortune to provide psychological counseling on the Wasatch Front for many years. I have discovered that psychotherapy works best when provided in a supportive and accepting environment. I take an active role; yet believe that respect and collaboration are critical in the therapeutic process. Through collaboration, we will work together to find ways of reducing stress and anxiety in your life, while also establishing new ways to cope with difficulties that are consistent with your personal values and beliefs.

Healing often begins when you finally feel understood—not analyzed or judged, but genuinely seen. My work is grounded in both relationship-based and strength-focused approaches, shaped by my training in Marriage and Family Studies and Social Work, and informed by deep respect for each client’s lived experience.
Therapy with me is collaborative and client-centered. We move at your pace, working together to make sense of patterns that no longer serve you and to build tools that actually fit your life. I strive to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and steady—where you can speak openly, explore with curiosity.

I have worked with trauma for almost ten years and I have loved every second of it. People often ask me how hard my job is, and it is hard but it is also so rewarding. I love sitting with people in their discomfort and going with them on their difficult but very worthwhile journey.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward, you’re not alone. Many of the people I work with are navigating anxiety, emotional exhaustion, family stress, or a season of change that feels heavier than expected. They’re often doing their best to hold everything together while quietly wishing for a place to finally slow down and be heard.

Difficult life experiences resulted in times when I felt stuck. I was riddled with shame and guilt, and crippled with worry and fear. Then, I allowed myself to be vulnerable and met with a therapist. I had a profound experience in therapy. It was healing and helped me immensely. This led me to a lifelong calling to be of service. That is why I am here. I wish to be of service to you in your journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.
Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.
Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.
What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
