I believe we are hard-wired for connection, growth, purpose and joy. Sometimes we just need a little help. Every stage of life challenges us to discover ourselves and others in a new way. This can be exciting and rewarding. It can also be confusing and scary. We may start to notice patterns in our lives that get in the way of our best life, a life of balance, a life filled with security, curiosity, love, friendship, satisfying accomplishment, healthy habits, freedom and good fun. Counseling can be an incredible source of support and a source of new insight and skills.
Much of my counseling experience is with children, teens and young adults, and the parents of children teens and young adults. Regardless of age, I use a variety of methods--talk therapy, breath/yoga, art and activities--to help my clients identify and explore their feelings, especially how those feelings show up in their body, mind, behaviors and beliefs.
While I truly believe that every heart can both heal and grow over time, I understand that not every situation has a neat "solution". In those cases, I offer empathy, hold space for grieving, and, if it serves your present needs, help you find strength, meaning and purpose through the challenges you must face.
