Why Play Therapy? This is a frequently asked question. I believe that through play, children express themselves in their own developmentally appropriate way. Through play and other expressive therapies, children can resolve problems, cope with difficult emotions,improve cognitive development and help resolve inner conflicts. Although I work mainly with children, my education and training also allow me the opportunity to work with adults on certain issues.

As a counselor, I empower individuals to overcome obstacles and disturbances in their lives. Robert is an Intervention Specialist trained in guiding families through the systemic process whereby a person addicted to alcohol or drugs is encouraged to accept help and enter treatment. Robert has worked in treatment centers and detoxification facilities as a counselor, program developer, educator, director of admission and clinical supervisor. Robert's practice specializes in substance abuse interventions, counseling, DOT/SAP services and community prevention. Robert is certified and licensed as an Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse counselor; Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) ; Prevention Specialist; and Crisis Interventionist.

David's Background: David Sacks is a licensed clinical psychologist and a consultant for athletes and other elite performers. He is a graduate of Stanford University (B.A. English; M.A. Education) and earned his Ph.D. from Florida State University. David completed his psychology internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Vanderbilt University Counseling Center. As a scientist-practitioner, David has published numerous articles and presented at national and international conferences. I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy, a science-based couples treatment to help couples heal and thrive, even in a pandemic. I am currently working exclusively via secure video chat or phone during this crisis to help my clients, both individuals and couples. Science teaches us that services delivered this way are just as effective as in-person ones. Both day and evening hours are available as well as some weekends. I am accepting new clients and also offer Executive and Entrepreneurial Coaching for those particularly stressed by work demands.
