I am a humorous, non-judgemental, trauma-informed, harm-reductionist gay cis-male therapist. I specialize in working with men and enjoy working with couples (monogamous, poly, or open) who want to improve their relationships. I am also passionate about helping people who want to change their relationship with substances but are unsure about total sobriety and/or the Twelve Steps do not resonate.

I am a gender, sexuality, and neurodivergent affirmative therapist. I hold an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. I am supervised by Jody Goldie, LMFT as I head towards a license in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Registered Play Therapist credential.

I work with couples or adult individuals seeking help and encouragement as they navigate their relationships. We can often find ourselves struggling to feel understood by each other. Issues around communicating needs, conflict in their partnership, parenting, intercultural relationships, dynamics within family of origin or in-laws, work/life balance and couples that identify as LGBTQIA+ are all areas I'm familiar working with. I invite clients to create and practice new tools to better understand one another and emerge out bickering and into a collaboration.

My commitment in therapy is to help people live their fully authentic life - in whatever way that looks like to you. I have a particular passion for those who love outside the box - I specialize in working with polyamory and non-monogamy, kink, and queer and trans individuals. I like to get curious about the things that make you unique, and find ways to make those parts shine, while also holding space for the difficulty of living with marginalized identities. While I am not a trained trauma therapist, trauma, both single-instance and complex, informs all of my work.

My current work focuses on sex therapy. My areas of speciality within sex therapy include desire and arousal issues, desire discrepancies between partners, vulvodynia/vaginismus and other sexual or pelvic pain, and the intersection of sex and disability. Additionally, I work with adults and older teens–especially queer, trans and LGTBQIA+ people—around issues of mood, attachment, addiction, and identity. I also write letters of support for gender affirmation surgeries.

I work with teens (15+) and adults around trauma, attachment, gender and sexuality exploration, neurodiversity, and mood concerns. Difficult experiences can distort how we view of ourselves and the world, and lead to ineffective behaviors to manage the pain. Let's work to reconnect you to all parts of yourself so that your most authentic self can step forward, and you can live your most fulfilling life. I aim to create a safe and welcoming environment for clients by bringing my humanness to sessions while maintaining professional boundaries. I am passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ folks and am a part of the community.

I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help people improve their mental health. I believe that each person deserves treatment tailored to their experience and needs. In session, I help people change patterns of unhealthy thoughts or behaviors and examine meaning of life experiences. As a counselor, I am open-minded, analytical, and casual while allowing space for challenging clients to improve their lives. I practice from an informed consent perspective aimed at reducing barriers to care and emphasizing bodily autonomy. This often involves writing letters of support for medical transition services.

I believe that the best therapy is radically empathetic and real, that all people hold the innate capacity for healing, and that there is courage, strength, and healing when we are able to express and release our emotional pain. With more than a decade of experience providing psychotherapy to individuals from all walks of life, I assist individuals arrive at their own truth and walk towards living a more authentic life: one that that is more in line with who they are, what they believe, value, and want for themselves.

We’ll start to sort and organize your life story, unearth harmful patterns, and generate solutions that will help you live with more intention and authenticity. Through that process, you’ll see yourself, your life, and your experiences through a different perspective that will help you break through barriers that have held you back. I'm enthusiastic about increasing access to effective treatment around OCD, religious trauma, recovery from abuse and trauma, and LGBTQ+ specific challenges.

As a systemic therapist, I think of people kind of like nesting dolls: we all go through life as the little one in the middle, whole and independent, yet undeniably we are nestled in larger contextual structures. I will meet you with compassion, humor, and non-judgment in the therapy space, holding your whole picture in mind as we work together to integrate the realities of your context with the realities of your heart. I enjoy getting to know people on a deep level and helping uncover unconscious patterns holding them back. I'm all about getting to the root of a problem, and I will always be honest and direct with you. I offer a holistic approach to therapy and help people gain insight on the developmental experiences that shaped their current belief systems.
