The crux of my approach is simple - you, the client, are the focus. Cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and other experiential therapies round it out. I know modern research shows that mental illnesses and traumas are a very real 'disease' or 'injury'. If you fell out of a tree and broke your bone, you would likely go to an Urgent Care center and have a medical doctor reset and cast the bone. The same is true for mental illness and trauma.
With mental illness and trauma, the organ that is suffering is the brain. Just like with the broken arm, the brain CAN heal itself, if, the proper treatment is given. It would be unlikely for you to have your friend reset your broken arm, so the same is true when treating mental illness and trauma. Help me help you end your pain and suffering.
