Emotions can really suck. Due to our individual histories, we develop means to reduce intense emotional experiences that have been inexplicitly linked to anxiety. This can lead to behaviors and means of relating that lead to perpetual anxiety and destructive relationships with ourselves and others. In therapy, we can work together to recognize unconscious patterns and resolve unconscious emotional conflicts; the goal is an increase in happiness and quality of life.
To meet this end, we will utilize an integrated psychoanalytic approach. Together, we will examine how mixed feelings and anxiety are dealt with in current relationships, the therapeutic relationship, and in the past, uncovering unconscious material to resolve.
I understand that entering counseling can be anxiety-provoking, so I encourage those who want to work together to contact me for a free 30-minute consultation to ensure that we are a "good fit" before making any commitments.
