Dr. Fortman serves as clinical faculty at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and in full-time private practice. A former member of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Institute (SOGI) and staff psychologist at the Center on Halsted, he continues to provide supervision to graduate students. He trained at The Ohio State University, University of Virginia, and Sarah Lawrence College. Dr. Fortman is experienced in helping people who are struggling with relationship difficulties, anxiety & depression, low self esteem, LGBT related issues, grief, abuse & neglect, and trauma.
Collaborative relationships are at the core of Dr. Fortman's practice. He believes that the partnership between you - the expert on your wellbeing - and him - a trained and experienced clinician - will produce the discovery of fresh understandings.
Whether you know exactly what is bothering you or just have a sense things could be better, Dr. Fortman can help. He creates an affirming, open, and empathetic environment that enables you to explore patterns that keep you stuck, learn skills to live more fully, and ultimately achieve your goals.
