I have over 4 years of experience in working with teens and families to navigate difficult life circumstances.
I strive to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can be yourself, explore life’s challenges, and discover your strengths. Outside of my work, I'm a mom to a spirited nine-month-old daughter, which means I'm living the beautiful, exhausting, identity-shifting reality of new parenthood right alongside many of the clients I see. That experience has deepened my understanding of just how much becoming a parent can stir up: grief, anxiety, joy, and everything in between.

I work with children as young as 4, as well as teens, adults, and families.
I believe that our thoughts have so much power over who we are and where we are in life, and changing a person’s thoughts can empower and promote an individual in all aspects of life. Two of my strengths are empathy and being an encourager, which helps me to connect to others. I am an EMDR Certified therapist and would like to work with those experiencing trauma of all ages. I have a special place in my heart for those suffering from grief, loss, and chronic disease. I was a Medical Assistant who worked with Oncology patients and saw the need for that population and their families to get counseling.

I love working with people who are motivated to figure out what is keeping them stuck and how to get unstuck. Working with neurodiverse individuals to help them understand their brains, how they are wired, and how to work with that wiring is a passion for me. Helping parents understand what is going on in their child's brain that causes the big emotions, challenging behaviors, or anxieties in a way that helps them be the best parents for the kids is extremely gratifying. For people struggling in their academics or jobs, finding the puzzle pieces that unlock their struggles and let them thrive is a joy.

If you are someone struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, chronic health issues, addiction, trauma (shock, complex and/or attachment trauma), and/or having a hard time living life to its fullest, and you want a safe place to learn, grow and heal, I might be able to help. Sometimes talk therapy alone is enough to resolve whatever ails you, but when there is chronic stress or trauma that has persisted in the mind/body for a prolonged period, therapies that take a "bottom up" approach can have more of a lasting impact.

I have over 10 years of experience working with teenagers, adults, and families in a variety of contexts.
You may be exhausted from carrying the weight of anxiety, anger, low self-esteem or depression. An all too familiar place where you feel burdened by shame and that you’ll never be enough. Maybe managing your daily life seems impossible and you’ve realized that you’re coping in ways that only seem to dig you deeper into your shame and are hurting the people you love. You’re not alone. I work with people to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and how their experiences shape them. Through a lens of compassion, honesty, and curiosity, we will see how understanding your past carves a pathway towards healing, hope, and restoration.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
