You are the one everyone counts on. Capable. Responsible. The strong one. But underneath, you feel exhausted, disconnected, anxious, or emotionally numb. Maybe you keep pushing through while quietly wondering why life still feels so heavy. Trauma, burnout, loss, or years of carrying too much can leave your nervous system stuck in survival mode. Therapy can become the place where you finally stop holding everything alone and begin feeling like yourself again.

Feeling overwhelmed, confused, stressed, lost? Yearn to connect with life, yet, often become stuck? Navigating through life disconnections - with our spirit, families, partners, friends, work - can be exhausting and overwhelming. You have already tried going to your life "toolbox" (faith, family, friends, chocolate...). Together we can explore feelings, figure out how our own inner stories are actually adding to our stress, reconnect with our inner power to experience love, acceptance, and be our authentic self. Asking "How am I ever going to figure out..." is a good starting place. I can walk with you as we try to figure it out.

Change is what human development is all about-enormous, fantastic change. The most influential approaches to psychotherapy is psychoanalyisis and Client-centered therapy. Where problems arise from unhealthy interactions with others and could be alleviated in private between therapist and client. Together we can increase your ability to think, feel and learn new coping skills, holistically. Side effects from pharmaceutical drugs sometimes are worse than the actual symptoms of anxiety and depression. Science has proven health benefits of yoga, qigong, laughter, tapping, herbal remedies and meditation.

You’re the one who holds it together. You get things done, show up for others, and from the outside, you seem fine. But inside, your mind won’t shut off. You replay conversations, stay on edge, overthinking makes it hard to fall asleep, and it never really feels restful. Maybe you’ve been through things you don’t talk about, or you’ve pushed through for so long that your body doesn’t know how to slow down anymore. Anxiety, trauma, or chronic stress can show up as overthinking, emotional disconnection, or nights where your brain just won’t let you rest.

As a clinical mental health provider and retired veteran, I have witnessed client reluctance/avoidance in seeking therapy. The most common feedback I hear to reluctance in seeking therapy is cost, fear of being judged, stigma, no connection with the therapist, therapist pushed religious beliefs, and poor negative experiences with prior therapy. It is my mission to provide an experience for each client that encompasses affordability, hope, dignity, and respect in a collaborative and safe space. My goal is to ensure you feel listened to and understood. My approach is team work and I look forward to helping you achieve your goals.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
