If you are a parent feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or having intrusive thoughts you did not expect, you’re not alone. Many parents are surprised by how intense this season can feel, especially after a loss, trauma, or major life transition. You might find yourself on edge, emotionally numb, irritable, or disconnected from yourself or the people you love. You may feel guilt for not enjoying this stage the way you thought you would, or wonder why everything feels harder than it should.

You may be a thoughtful professional or part of a couple in Austin who feels stuck in the same unhelpful patterns — overthinking everything, reacting in ways that no longer serve you, or repeating the same relationship dynamics no matter how hard you try. You function well on the outside but inside you’re tired of circling the same issues. My ideal clients are motivated, high-functioning adults and couples who are ready to stop overthinking and start changing. They come when they want practical tools and real movement forward.

I believe that establishing rapport and building a true sense of trust and safety is essential in creating the foundation for therapeutic success. I understand that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, but rather one that requires evidence-based approaches thoughtfully adapted to each individual. At the heart of my work is the conviction that clients are the experts on their own lives, while I play an active role in guiding the process—drawing on evidence-based tools, clinical expertise, and professional insight to provide direction, perspective, and support throughout the therapeutic journey.

:) Currently seeing clients in-person in Southlake, TX and virtually all over TX and FL.
I'm not the therapist who is just going to sit and listen, I will get involved. I love "unsticking" clients from the patterns that aren't working for them, helping people feel more confident and less anxious, and I enjoy helping couples communicate better. Let's talk about how you can actually hold boundaries effectively, let's discover how we can move forward from our trauma (EMDR, etc), let's talk about the neurobiology behind making habits stick! I believe that all behavior makes sense somehow, let's figure out that how and work it!

I provide counseling in-person at our Roanoke office & virtually for clients anywhere in TX.
Trauma, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, life transitions and relationship challenges can leave you feeling drained, disconnected and as though you’re just going through the motions each day. You feel pressure to appear strong and hold it all together—at work, in relationships, or within your family—while quietly neglecting your own needs. Saying “no” can feel risky, rest may feel undeserved, and it’s easy to slip into autopilot, carrying overwhelm, resentment or sadness along the way. You don’t have to keep pushing through alone—it’s time to start showing up for yourself, too.

For over 38 years, I've created collaborative conversations with clients that generate new possibilities for change. I use a postmodern approach and strive to understand how clients make meaning of themselves, others, and the world around them. I tend to be active in those conversations - not passive - and I am respectful and goal-oriented. I also enjoy writing, providing consultation to other professionals, and speaking to audiences about love, dating, and relationships.

Have you ever felt helpless, lost, or confused as a parent? Felt overwhelmed by the daily decisions we face as parents compounded by the number of differing opinions on how to be a good parent? Alongside the intense love a parent feels for their child can also come worry, fear, and a deep desire to do everything that we can to nurture their development. Watching your child struggle at school, be rejected by friends, hurt themselves, or explode with anger can feel like an open wound that will not heal. A journey this important should not be undertaken alone.

Concerns with desire, orgasm, gender identity, and sexual self-esteem are all common. A second specialty I see is eating disorders and body image concerns, primarily with young (i.e., teens to 40s) women. With a background as a generalist psychologist, I frequently work with clients experiencing general relationship issues, anxiety, depression, identity development, academic/career related distress, and provide evaluations for gender affirming surgeries.

I offer both in person and telehealth therapy, with a preference for the depth and connection that in person sessions can offer.
Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step—but it’s also where things start to shift. If you’re ready for clarity, honesty, and meaningful change, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. I work with high-achieving women, couples, and athletes who appear strong on the outside but are struggling internally.

Constantly thinking about food? Stuck in a cycle of dieting, overeating, and starting over—even though you feel in control in other areas of your life? You’re not alone. Many of my clients are high-achieving and driven, yet feel frustrated by how much room food takes up mentally. Some are also exploring GLP-1 medications and want a thoughtful, sustainable approach alongside them. At Emotional Eating Therapy, I help you understand the emotional patterns behind overeating and build lasting ways to cope—without relying on willpower or another diet. The goal is food freedom: less food noise and guilt, more ease around food.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
