I provide tools for improving relationships and desensitizing past trauma which may be causing barriers to happiness and well-being.
Have you lost track of who you really are? Do you take care of the wants and needs of others without having your own needs met? Do you live your life according to what other people want and expect from you? Do you sometimes feel like you’re just a mirror, reflecting other people’s lives? I can help you find a balance between your inner self and your outer self.

The relationship between client and therapist is like no other. A client should be able to freely express themselves with no concerns about how it might effect the therapist, unlike with family or friends. I work with adults to overcome depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress, shame and trauma. A special interest is working with people who have experienced trauma, whether from long ago childhood abuse and neglect or from other life events, encouraging them to recognize and release long standing painful emotions and ineffective patterns of behavior.

I am a queer, nonbinary therapist who specializes in working with folks exploring their gender, sexual, or romantic identity, and/or sexual trauma. There's no such thing as TMI in therapy with me: we can talk about sex, dating, abuse, religion, money, family, and other "shameful" topics without judgment. We can cuss, cry, laugh, share memes, and make darkly inappropriate jokes about mental health. Therapy requires honesty and cutting through the bs; healing only happens through authentic connection.

My training taught me about the impact of childhood trauma on the developing brain resulting in developmental immaturity and a dysregulated nervous system.
With over 31 years in 12-Step recovery, I felt called to this profession. I believe that my own personal struggle with addiction and childhood trauma helps me meet my clients with a sense compassion and hope for what recovery can offer.

I have worked with clients of all backgrounds and find it meaningful to work alongside those who have endured trauma in childhood, personal relationships, and the workplace.
Feeling stressed, stuck, or just plain overwhelmed? Let’s talk (no couch required!). I believe that finding a therapist who is the right fit for you is the most important part of the process. If you’re looking to heal from traumatic experiences, explore your interpersonal relationships, and clarify your life’s values, I might be the right fit for you. I have been trained in a range of evidence-based, short-term trauma and depression therapy approaches, including Cognitive Processing Therapy and Behavioral Activation.

Every one of us will experience crisis in our lifetime. These intense times of difficulty may be easy to name: relationship strife, a significant loss, or traumatic events. Other times you may be living with the gnawing sense that the life you’ve built doesn’t serve who you truly are. You may be experiencing anxiety and depression, unfulfilling relationships, or a resurfacing of unmet grief or trauma. No matter what distress has arrived at your door, it’s possible that you feel lost and confused and wonder what you can do. You are not alone. I’ve been there, and so has almost everyone you know.

I enjoy working with adults from diverse backgrounds who are facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, personality disorders, trauma, addictions, identity struggles, and more.
Life’s challenges can often leave you feeling stuck in difficult patterns that affect your relationships with both yourself and others. Anxiety, depression, anger, or difficulties with intimacy can create a deep sense of isolation and be difficult to navigate on your own. My goal is to offer a secure and trusting space where we can explore these struggles together. Therapy can help you gain deeper self-understanding, foster more genuine connections, and develop a stronger, more positive sense of self. This journey can lead to meaningful changes in how you think, feel, and relate to others.

My areas of expertise are working with children, teen, and young adults that have been through trauma, are facing depression or anxiety, in need of coping skills, exploring different parts of their identity, or needing help growing their confidence.
My biggest goal in therapy is to help clients feel equipped to take on each day to their best ability. Whether that means learning and practicing coping skills, using EMDR to re-process past trauma and reduce triggers, growing your confidence and self-esteem, or just allowing space to better understand your thoughts and emotions, I will be with you every step of the way to support you through your therapeutic journey. I am a firm believer that therapy has the ability to truly improve your quality of life and relationships with those around you, and I hope that you will allow me to be a part of your process.

I offer counseling for adults and teens (ages 16+) looking to process major life transitions (divorce, leaving/changing religious settings, personal identity, etc), deal with burnout and boundaries, improve self-care, & address trauma (including religious trauma/harm), neurodiversity and parent coaching for those with children and teens with ASD.
Currently accepting new clients, in-person & teletherapy available. Stepping into the process of counseling takes courage, vulnerability, creativity, and curiosity. It requires the use of one’s whole self—body, mind, emotion and spirit. We also all need community to do the work of healing. Finding a trusted counselor can be one such communal support as you move through the process of excavating who you really are from beneath confusing and toxic layers of culture, religion, family messages, trauma, and unhealthy beliefs about yourself and others.

Together, we'll work to heal from past trauma, cope with big emotions, build a stronger sense of self, repair your relationships, and find stability in your life once again.
Healing is about so much more than managing symptoms & learning coping skills. You deserve to move beyond the bandaid approach to find deeper, lasting healing by addressing the root causes and unresolved trauma at the source of your pain. My approach centers on the belief that each person possesses an innate healing wisdom, and that the therapeutic relationship is a powerful catalyst for change. By valuing genuine connection, meeting you where you're at, and using creative and innovative therapies, the process becomes a collaborative and transformational experience that helps you build a life filled with purpose and authenticity.

Are you the eldest adult daughter that experiences anxiety and strives for perfectionism? Is your family one of the last places you can confide in your struggles because of the trauma and PTSD you've experienced? It’s important to acknowledge all the shit you’ve been through and that life isn’t always about getting it right. Despite facing numerous challenges, you're strong but don't fully believe that. Even when luck hasn't been in your favor, now you're prepared to engage in profound self-work.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
