The experiences throughout our lives help to shape and mold us. At times, the stories we tell ourselves keep us shackled to the limiting beliefs we become anchored to. Engaging in a safe and empathetic conversation can help in uncovering the root of these unhealthy beliefs/habits and propel you forward with better meaning and understanding as you embark on a more hopeful path. This journey need not be traveled alone and through counseling, can be effective in remapping your life and how you perceive it.
My name is Joyce Miles. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist supervisor (LMFT-S) and licensed chemical dependency counselor (LCDC) in the state of Texas. I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their life and deserve to have access to the best therapeutic care possible when they choose to seek out therapy. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families of all different shapes and sizes to reach their therapeutic goals.
I'm experienced in counseling individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and many other problems. I am an LPC-Associate under the supervision of Jennifer Fanelli M.A., LPC-S. My goal is to help you identify and overcome obstacles in your life that may be blocking your path to healing and happiness.
Having been a Licensed therapist here in the Panhandle for over 19 years, I may offer new insight and coping skills to help you face your current and previous stressors. Resilience and adaptability are positive qualities we all possess that may get overshadowed by life's unpredictable events or even our own individual brain chemistry. A therapist is basically a catalyst to assist you in finding your way back to a healthier, happier you. Self insight and acceptance, boundaries, visualization and breathwork as well as Mindful new ways of thinking or seeing issues may help you on your journey. I look forward to working with you.
I spent my first fourteen years of clinical social work working with children and families in a residential care setting. I have experience in treating trauma and attachment wounds. I believe that a person’s intrauterine experience and history of adverse events and/or stressors can shape one's life – creating unwanted physical sensations, emotions, depression, anxiety, and trouble building and sustaining healthy relationships with others. I am trained in EMDR therapy and use EMDR as a tool to aid in decreasing stressful feelings and experiences.
I believe people have the capacity to change if provided a safe environment in which to recognize and overcome obstacles or barriers to personal happiness. I am passionate about seeing people experience freedom and seeing marriages healed, and I believe God is the ultimate healer.

I have also offered groups centering on consent, sexuality, and relationships in local high schools and I have facilitated workshops on music therapy and media literacy.
Hola! Welcome to Vida Counseling TX! My name is Jennifer and I am a bilingual therapist that is passionate in empowering young adult individuals in reaching their full potential in life. I especially enjoy working with first generation young adults to help them process their generational trauma, identity development, and manage relationships and hardships. Young adults face many difficult life transitions. And young adults navigating additional stressors related to culture, first generational hardships, and a world where they feel they have little to no guidance/support can be even more difficult.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified School Counselor and a Certified Trauma Specialist. I offer services to individual children, adults, couples, and families. I strive to provide a judgement free and supportive zone while engaging you with open and honest dialog. My goal is to help you explore your thoughts and feelings, both positive and negative, without fear of rejection. Our therapeutic relationship will be an important key to your healing. I have a genuine desire to help you become a more healthy and confident individual.
The days are long and lethargic. The headaches, backaches and physical pain are nothing compared to the darkness that is so oppressive. Then there are the moments where, like a wave, emotions from the past (a past you'd rather forget) wash over you unannounced. Things you thought you had hidden away or forgotten about pop up when you least expect, and least want them. Family and friends throw words around like lazy, flakey, and unpredictable; or perhaps even more official-sounding terms like bipolar, depressed, or PTSD. Right now, it feels like there won’t be an end, like there is no hope. It doesn't have to.
Is your child struggling in school? Are you feeling overwhelmed with emotional outbursts and behavior challenges? Do you feel like you’re not connecting with your child and don’t know what to do? Are you looking for ways to help your child after a significant loss or traumatic experience? I want you to know there's help available! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who specializes in working with children struggling with grief, anger and aggression, anxiety, depression, and symptoms related to trauma. I seek to create a safe, non-judgmental, non-intrusive atmosphere for children to truly express their emotions and desires.
Psychotherapy is a collaborative task, where the patient takes an active role in working toward goals. A therapist helps with mental, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral difficulties. Psychotherapy is to help a person reach better understanding of problems and gain increased self-awareness. It's also intended to work toward improving identified difficulties, offer support in problem solving, provide symptom relief, and improve coping in daily living. My experience involves working with divorce, depression, anxiety, anger, parenting, chronic//terminal illness, grief/loss, abuse/neglect, and all ages of delinquent behaviors.
I provide guidance for my clients to heal from the impact of stressful or hard life circumstances by forming healthy connections with themselves and others. I chose the name of my counseling practice intentionally for this reason. Most aspen trees grow in large clonal colonies, sharing the same root system. I believe that we as humans were wired for connection like the aspen tree. Sometimes our internal or external connections can be stressed, broken, wounded, or vacant. Counseling offers us a place to create healing space so that we can find greater integration with ourselves and others.
At times we all struggle with life changes such as job change or loss, the ending of a relationship, the loss of a loved one, parent-child conflict, or family-marital conflict. These changes can cause feelings of sadness, depression or anxiety. I look forward to working with clients who are seeking help with navigating life's ups and downs.
I specialize working with individuals on the Autism spectrum at all levels of functionality, PTSD, anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar, dyslexia and other learning disabilities, Down Syndrome, veterans and military families, blended families, gender identity issues, and general life crises. I have no preferred age range to work with and will see anyone of any age, children included.
