I’ve been a licensed psychotherapist for many years and now retired. Over the span of my career, I’ve worked with children, adults and families to help them achieve a higher quality of life. This is why people seek out therapy. I recognize when people experience symptoms of mental health conditions, such as anxiety, adult ADHD, depression, stress, or struggles that arise in work, friends, close/marital and family relationships can often lead to feeling trapped. If you’re seeking help to overcome these challenges that stand in the way of living the quality of life you want, I can help.

Attempts to “control” and “get rid” of our thoughts and feelings can leave us feeling powerless and stuck struggling with our problems in life. Instead of continuing that endless battle against anxiety, sadness, and all the other hurdles life throws at us, let’s help you identify how your mind can trap you, keeping you stuck against your problems. The most common struggles I help clients learn to change their relationships with are anxiety and intrusive thoughts, career stressors, and eating concerns.

I believe every person deserves a space where they feel heard, valued, and empowered. My approach is warm, collaborative, and client-centered, drawing from evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and understand how deeply early experiences can impact emotional health — but I also know how hope, skill-building, and support can transform that story.

If you've been carrying the weight of past experiences and sense that something needs to change, but you aren't sure where to start, you may be exactly who I had in mind when building my practice. I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, and relationship struggles. Many of my clients describe feeling stuck: caught in patterns they cannot quite break, disconnected from the people they love, or overwhelmed by emotions that are hard to name, let alone understand. If any of that sounds familiar, you're not alone and you do not have to figure it out by yourself.

Hi! As a clinically-trained therapist, I want you to know that the struggles you face and the traumas you have experienced do not have to define you. You have the ability to create a new path for yourself, to live the life you really want to live. I would love to help you create that life. As a Christian counselor, I believe God created perfection and placed it all in the Garden of Eden. Unfortunately, sin entered the picture and people have been struggling with the effects of sin ever since. Sometimes that struggle is beyond our resources and understanding. We need to have someone help us through life's troubles.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
