I work with people who find themselves in hard places—whether from past trauma, current stressors, or patterns that feel hard to change. My background includes 15 years with Child Protective Services before transitioning into psychotherapy in 2015. I work in private practice with adolescents, adults, couples, and families, with special experience supporting first responders, veterans, and survivors of sexual trauma. My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and rooted in the belief that every person has worth and is doing the best they can with the tools they have.

I particularly enjoy helping couples as they struggle with relationship difficulties as well as parents who are trying to understand how to raise their children, whether they are preschoolers or teenagers.
Coming to counseling is one of the bravest things anyone can do, as it requires emotional strength, humility, and determination to make changes in areas that you may be experiencing some frustration. I consider it a great privilege to come alongside others as they navigate through difficult circumstances, and learn how to get from where they currently are, to where they want to be. I am honored to be a part of their journey of self-discovery, as well as the discovery of truth in their lives.

It takes significant strength to start looking for a counselor! I applaud starting the process... don't stop now. Reach out. I know that counseling can be uncomfortable and counselors are often awkward people (sorry). At Alethia, we prioritize counselors who can help you feel at home - people you would enjoy getting coffee with, much less talk about the hard things in life. Our front desk team will pair you with the right counselor for you!

In the first session, I like to meet with the guardians/ parents and child to answer any questions related to the counseling process, get background information (Biopsychosocial Intake), and set goals for treatment which allows us to collaborate and develop a treatment plan best suited to support your child's needs.
Every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and supported. I help kids and teens navigate big feelings, life transitions, and strengthen their social-emotional skills in a warm, developmentally appropriate space. My approach is supportive and relational, helping young clients grow both in and outside of sessions. My guiding motto is for kids and teens to feel seen, understood, appreciated, loved, enough, empowered, and encouraged—because every child deserves to feel truly valued. If your child is struggling or simply needs extra support, you’re not alone. I’d be honored to walk alongside your family on this journey.

Do you find yourself gripped with anxiety and worry, no matter what you do? Maybe you find yourself in repetitive, harmful patterns. You're someone who wants to feel happier and healthier but instead find yourself feeling anxious and stressed most of the time. You often feel disconnected from those you love and stuck in unhelpful patterns. You want to get to the root of why you feel and respond the way you do and feel like you have more control over your life. You are ready to make more meaningful choices about how you treat yourself and others. You believe there is something better for you-you just need help getting there.

Being an adoptive Mom and a home schooling parent, I also love encouraging others in their adoptive and home schooling journey.
Have you ever asked yourself, "I know better...why am I doing this? Why am I feeling this way?" Are you often ready to fight or flee, bracing yourself against danger? Feeling immobilized, overwhelmed or like you may collapse? If your actions, emotions or thoughts keep you feeling unsafe; like you can't get past a distressing event, there's hope. If it seems you've tried everything but still struggle, my training and experience can facilitate healing. Even the brightest people get stuck; trapped by behaviors, beliefs or emotions. I would be honored to help you stop sabotaging yourself!

Accepting new clients. I believe people have an inherent desire to seek out joy, peace, order, stability, belonging, and purpose in their lives and relationships. However, through the ever-changing circumstances and challenges in life, we can find ourselves feeling depressed, anxious, chaotic, alone, and lost. I work from a strengths-based perspective of hope, believing that wherever you are “stuck,” there is room for change and growth.

Now Accepting New Clients. Are you interested in creating change and moving forward? People seek therapy for many reasons. Some struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health disorders; others need a safe space to explore their thoughts and feelings. Our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors are connected and sometimes become so intense that we reach a breaking point. Together, we can create a safe haven, explore patterns, build a toolbox with coping skills, and enhance your resilience. I utilize mindfulness-based exercises and cognitive behavioral techniques to identify and foster acceptance, change, and commitment.

Life happens to everyone and it is full of both highs and lows. I believe we each have exactly what we need to navigate all that life throws at us. I am passionate about helping anyone embrace the beauty of their whole self: the highs and the lows. Although it can be difficult to see the beauty in the midst of the mess, I believe in empowering others to set goals for their life and actively working towards those goals to make progress towards the life you want.

I believe a strong therapeutic relationship in the counseling room is the beginning for clients who are wanting to explore living their best life. My passion for working with clients stems from my own past life experiences. I am a “seasoned person” who believes all people deserve to be heard. My goal is to create a supportive and safe space where clients feel honored and free to explore the parts of themselves.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
