Counseling requires a relationship based on trust and mutual respect. My goal for counseling is that you and I will understand and trust one another, identifying your goals and working to overcome whatever obstacles are in your way. I believe that anyone who seeks counseling does so because of a desire to live your best life, and my desire is to help you do just that. With over 20 years of experience as a licensed counselor, I will help you to move toward solutions that will bring about positive change. While my clinical training and biblical worldview inform my approach, your goals and needs are the priority of each session.

Maybe you have been carrying a lot for a long time. You might feel disconnected from your emotions, shaped by complex trauma, mother wounds, or the tension of navigating identity as a biracial person. Many of my clients are teens and women who learned to shrink, stay quiet, or disconnect to survive. Now they want something different. They want to understand themselves, feel safer in their bodies, and take up space in their lives without apologizing for who they are.

I believe that the aim of therapy should be to target the roots of challenging symptoms with the goal of transforming them and enacting lasting change. I believe that often the roots of persistent symptoms go back to childhood or an earlier time in your life, and symptoms such as anxiety, depression, mistrust, and even unrelenting critical voices once served a useful or even protective function when times were very stressful and when you didn’t feel seen, heard, or protected. In its broadest sense, I believe therapy is about healing these wounds and providing a corrective emotional experience and not just a set of techniques.

You may be a parent worried about your child’s emotions, behavior, or confidence, or a teen or young adult feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or unsure of where you fit. School stress, emotional outbursts, anxiety, or feeling disconnected may be making daily life harder than it needs to be. You want clarity, support, and a space where you or your child can feel safe, understood, and capable of growth.

Hi there, I'm Katherine! I'm a millennial therapist and I began my work over five years ago in local non-profits, supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and complex trauma. Walking alongside individuals through some of their most painful experiences has shaped how I practice today: with steadiness, compassion, and a belief that healing is possible and deserved. As a Latina therapist, I work from a social justice lens, honoring the impact of culture, identity, and generational trauma. I strive to create a trauma-informed, affirming space where clients feel seen, empowered, and safe to heal at their own pace.

To all you Texas queerdos, weirdos, gamers, & outsiders, I challenge you to embrace & value your "other-ness." You may have been told you're wrong, strange, stupid, immature, selfish, etc. since you can first remember. You may think you need to constantly change yourself & what you're doing to please others - or even exist among others. You may feel you're too needy, high-maintenance, or [messed]-up compared to others around you. I see you. You don't have to keep relentlessly trying to make it on your own - this isn't a From Software game after all!

We all face challenges in life, but sometimes we get stuck, overwhelmed, or even notice repeating patterns that negatively affect our relationships, work, and our overall health. As your therapist, I aim to provide the support, encouragement, and tools to help you uncover your strengths and find solutions for your concerns. My goal is to walk with you as you reconnect to your world. We can do this by teaching you skills to restore your voice and build authentic relationships.

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to dismiss the importance of mental health. It’s easy to think of all the reasons not to make yourself a priority. Trying to do all the things without investing in yourself, takes a toll on your body and your mind. If you find yourself tired, numb, irritable, anxious, lacking motivation, or burned out, therapy can be a great place to start. What if you tried investing in yourself for a change?
