Choosing counseling can be a monumental step in life's journey. I consider it a privilege to come along side you as you are seeking insight, growth and change. I enjoy working with women via phone therapy. My approach to counseling involves consideration of the whole person. Your mind, your body and your spirit. I utilize several counseling theories - Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-Focused, and Emotion-Focused among others. Mostly though, I focus on meeting you where you are and without judgment so that you can experience the growth you desire.

I counsel professional women 25+ who are struggling to survive narcissistic relationships or post-partum depression and anxiety. If you've lost your sense of self and you’re experiencing high levels of chaos, confusion, anxiety, stress, or desperation, and wish the relationship/family system/work environment weren't so controlling OR if you're depressed and fighting to find yourself and a new normal after having a baby, please call. I offer a warm, person-centered approach that will likely include attachment and trauma work and psycho-education through talk, EMDR, and Sandtray therapies. Let's find you again so you can thrive.

As an experienced teen and woman 's therapist, I believe that every teen and woman can feel confident, secure, and trust in themselves.
You want to appear successful and like you have it "all together" but deep down are struggling to feel confident in who you are or cope with challenging experiences that have occurred in your life. You may be fed up with anxiety and depression, feeling insecure or left behind. You might not even remember a time things didn't feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you're ready for some relief. You're ready to be confident. You're ready to thrive. Most of all, you're ready to trust yourself. Give me a call or text to schedule your first appointment.

I'm filled with hope for my clients as they grapple with the pain, hurt, suffering, or fear they are experiencing as they await the time when all things will be made new. I believe all people are created in the imago Dei, image of God, and have incredible worth and value. My desire is to be a conduit in which healing would pass through my life experience and professional training in a way that benefits and brings hope, health, and restoration to those I counsel.

Working from an attachment view point, I strive to provide nurturing and consistent care. I look at how the functioning of family system and caregivers shapes thought patterns, self-images, and behaviors. Through DBT, I explore how behaviors are shaped through attachments to caregivers as well as current relationships.

Trauma can make it feel like there’s a constant rain cloud following you around, impacting your relationships, sleep, work, and outlook on life. You might feel like you're on a never ending roller coaster and it can be scary to take that first step in meeting someone new to help you find sunnier days and a way off that never ending roller coaster - there is hope. I believe in teamwork and genuine human connection as an essential part of counseling. I hope you’ll take a moment to connect by giving me a call or sending me an email to see how we can work together to find sunnier days.

We love our children and want what is best for them. Sometimes positive behaviors and coping skills do not come easy and we need help navigating through the day to day to help our children learn and grow. Maybe your child/ teen is struggling with depression, anxiety or adjusting to changes in life. Maybe you are not sure how to help them through some of the tough challenges and are searching for someone to help guide you and them along the way. It could be that you are searching for someone to talk to about your own stresses in life, as well.

Life can be difficult—full of struggles, challenges, changes, and the unexpected. We keep these events in our minds, whether at the front to consciously influence all of our decisions, or packed away in a box in a corner, to be dealt with ‘in the future’. When your box begins to overflow or you realize that it is time to open it, I’m here to help you unpack, sort, and re-pack the box. My goal is to help you regain control of the box, so that the box no longer controls you.

The decision to reach out for counseling can be one of the most important and helpful things you can do for your mental health and wellbeing. The process can be frightening and uncomfortable. Sometimes we have to take a step outside of our comfort zones and try something new. One of my professional goals is to help build a calm environment and strong therapeutic relationship conducive to meaningful change.

I enjoy working with the full life span, beginning at 2-years-old, through a wide variety of concerns. I consider it a deep honor to be entrusted on my clients’ paths to wellness and enjoy when clients are able to pursue wholeness, even when they have no words. Using art, play, music, breath work, mindfulness, animal-assisted therapy, EMDR, developmental theories, and other evidence-based treatments, I seek to approach clients with cultural humility and believe in utilizing my clients’ strengths in the journey toward healing.

Do the people around you rely on you because you’re an “over-achiever” or the one who always has it all together? You're putting on a smile while you say “yes” to one more thing, but inwardly you're panicking about how overwhelmed you feel. Or maybe you feel like you’re never perfect enough, no matter how hard you’re trying. Do you wear your constant busyness like a badge of honor because “everyone is just busy, right?” and to ask to slow down might seem like you're just lazy? I bet you look calm and collected on the outside, but do your racing thoughts keep you constantly on edge? If you're nodding your head right now, I get it.

When trauma impacts one member of a family, the ripple effects impact everyone. I believe that the best way to help children and adolescents heal is to work together with parents and caregivers to provide tools and resources for strengthening connection and encouraging positive coping.

Becoming a parent often brings up a wide range of emotions. Sometimes it is the long awaited reward after battling with infertility, or bearing the grief of miscarriage and loss. Sometimes it is the excitement of adding to a growing family. Sometimes it is the fear of reliving physical, emotional, or mental strain and hardship. Sometimes it is grappling with the societal and cultural expectations of parenting. The experiences that arise for parents during conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and parenting deserve time and space for specialized care and attention. This specialized care is what I offer in support of your goals.

Do you feel like something is missing? Have you been “pulling it all together” or trying to “keep it together”, but you feel like “you’re going crazy”? You have a mixture of feelings like sadness, confusion, guilt, anxiety, anger, and regret that change from moment to moment or from day to day. You may have depression, anxiety or trauma, but no one told it could all actually be linked to unresolved grief. Whether you are aware you are grieving or not, it’s ok to reach out and get help from a professional. Grief is an extremely personalized experience that comes with very unique personal thoughts and feelings inside of you.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
