I have served in the helping professions for several years and has had the opportunity to work with a multitude of populations. I completed my first degree in Industrial and organizational psychology and successfully guided many individual businesses to start existing in their purpose. After completing this Journey, I returned and received my second degree in Professional counseling and has since worked with teens, Adults and Seniors to address the needs they have related to esteem, goals and their identified purpose.

Sometimes life can become stressful and challenging. Occasionally, people make choices to try to correct their problems, when in turn, it can make their issues more difficult. Whether these issues stem from a unhealthy marriage/relationship, career / job unhappiness, family problems, or just feeling "stuck", there are answers. My job is to help clients learn more effective methods of dealing with these stressors, assist clients to see the pattern that has been created, and guide them in a different direction. Amanda is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-Associate) and is under the supervision of Rebecca Lincoln, LPC-S. She is also a National Certified Counselor by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), Inc. Amanda earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at Tyler. Her clinical training includes intensive case management with the TCOOMMI division (Texas Correctional Office on Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments) at the Andrews Center Behavioral Healthcare System, serving clients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders.

Believing there is hope in difficulty, I help individual clients pursue a healthy and meaningful life. As a professional counselor, I have training and skills that decrease the effects of stress and trauma. I work to increase clients' well-being while helping them develop and understand who they are and can become. Clients who benefited from working with me sought help for: grief, the stress of a service or healthcare job , understanding the intersection of their mental health and faith, and increasing satisfaction in areas of their life outside of their profession.

I offer, when appropriate, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy approaches. I take a practical solutions focused approach to behavioral health care and addiction recovery.

I am a Clinical Social Work Supervisor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. I address addiction, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, sleep, sports, and weight loss management. I teach coping skills, communication skills, healthy relationships, positive mindset & help motivate clients to make change. I have a certification in PTSD and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia. I use CBT to assist clients in meeting their needs and goals.

Traditional counseling has failed many of my clients. I am an extremely proactive strategic intervention coach and somatic trauma processing therapist who helps clients heal generational, childhood, and past relationship emotional wounds so as to reclaim their conditioned defense mechanisms and melt into new experiences of flow (where it takes minimal effort for us to be us). Understanding and processing the mechanisms of how we subconsciously defend ourselves can open us to moving into integration of our parts in a way that provides fresh clarity and energy in creating authentic/integrity relationships and a blooming life.

Dr. Cindy Ruelas-Tafolla is an advanced practitioner with a Doctorate degree from the University of Southern California. She is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Case Manager, and Certified Wellness Coach in the State of Texas.

My goals in therapy center around two ideas: helping you feel better and helping you get better. Life gets complicated for all of us (either throughout our lives or during parts of our lives). Sometimes we just need someone else to help guide us through it and teach us a new way to approaching our difficulties. One part involves helping you gain confidence that you can have control of your life, & the other involves challenging your beliefs and world views that keep you from living life to the fullest. Helping you feel better involves compassionate listening and understanding your concerns through your worldview.
