I work with children (8+), teens, college students, parents, and families dealing with anxiety, OCD, panic attacks, grief, and past trauma .
Are you trying to make sense of how your brain works differently in a world that wasn't made for you? Do you feel out of place or uncomfortable in your own skin? Do you feel like the world continues to turn while everything for you is frozen? Are you waking up at 3 am with no hope of falling back asleep or so out of it you don't really know how you even got to work today? Or maybe you are thinking about heading to the ER to check out those heart palpitations. If any of those rings true, I might be the counselor for you.

I have gradually centered my work around people dealing with trauma , addiction, attachment struggles and OCD because I identify with the experience and have experienced healing myself. Complex trauma , attachment difficulties, addiction and OCD often cause chronic emotional disregulation. The attention grabbing power of the past or the future remove connection with the present and the people in it. Additionally, persistent negative beliefs about oneself, God or others make progress feel too hard or a fleeting and disappointing experience. Helping people find freedom and start living is the passion that fuels my work.

I specialize in working with individuals struggling with sexual and addiction issues and their partners as well as the concerns which commonly coincide - trauma , PTSD , grief, loss, anxiety, depression, conflict, relationships, and culture/gender issues.
**I currently have a wait list. Email/call to arrange phone consultation for wait list or warm referrals** I help my clients with individual and couple therapy, biofeedback, and group therapy to understand themselves and their circumstances from a new perspective, one including access to healing, hope, and wellness. I recognize how people looking to improve their mental health often carry with them fears of unworthiness, imagined brokenness, and perceived failures of will, so I work to create a therapeutic environment free from stigma and judgment in which the people I serve have space to cultivate self-awareness, learn, and grow.

My training has included learning how to improve relationships, increase happiness and joy, develop meaning and purpose, reduce anxiety and depression, recover from trauma and addictions, and enhance sleep and pain management.
Does your anxiety get in the way of doing things? Would you like to improve your relationships with a partner, family, friends, or coworkers? Do you feel down, unmotivated, or not as interested in things as you used to be? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, there is hope! You are not alone in these experiences, and many people have changed their lives through therapy. Therapy is a journey that we take together. There are many paths we can choose from to go in the direction you desire. Everyone is different, and your path is tailored to your needs, preferences, and values.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
