I have been a therapist for over 35 years and believe that both individuals and couples can heal from dysfunctional relationships. "Know thyself" is a way in which to learn to cope with stressors that come your way. Understanding the baggage you carry, (we all have baggage), identifying our knee jerk reactions to other people, (rage, anger, fear, withdrawal) allows us to stop REACTING and teaches us to say how we feel in a healthy way. Addictions are our number one killer, and being fearful of expressing how you feel creates co-dependent relationships where much energy is focused on pleasing.

New and ongoing clients are very important to me as a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor. I hope to build a safe and trusting therapeutic partnership with each client. During the first visit my goal is to find out about some of your experiences and concerns. We then work toward basic goals that respect your values and priorities.

I believe therapy is a place where healing meets understanding. My work centers on trauma-informed care, helping clients explore how past experiences shape the way they think, feel, and respond in daily life. Together, we make sense of patterns—how they began, how they’ve served you, and how you can shift them toward growth and peace. Raised in a non-denominational environment, I bring a spirit of openness and respect for all relationship styles, beliefs, and backgrounds. I view therapy as a collaborative process—one built on trust, curiosity, and the shared goal of emotional well-being.

Many first responders struggle to put on the uniform day in and day out; feeling helpless that the 911 system will never change plus the frustration of disconnection between dispatch, field, and administration only feeds the discontent. There are so many things we can't control: calls, call volume, and sometimes whether the patient lives or dies. Its no wonder first responders have some of the highest burnout rates. I know this first-hand because I burned out of EMS. All the way out. I am here now as a counselor to help first responders manage and treat the feelings of burnout to increase longevity in the profession.

Don't settle for a generic drug and alcohol therapist. You deserve help that actually helps you feel happy again. (And, that's in-network with your insurance).

Do you ever feel like your brain has a mind of its own—constantly running, jumping from thought to thought, and refusing to quiet down when you actually need rest? Maybe you forget things as quickly as you think of them. Maybe you get bored easily, start projects you don’t finish, feel overstimulated one minute and shut down the next. And somehow, despite working twice as hard as everyone else, you still end up feeling behind. If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

Sometimes your mind feels like too much. Too many thoughts. Too many emotions. Too many questions, you don’t know how to answer. And maybe you’ve wondered: “Why am I like this?” In our work together, we slow things down and answer your questions. As a former educator and certified school counselor, I am trauma-informed and person-centered, able to create a calm, safe space where you can talk without judgment. Together, we will dive into the pain or the problem and seek solutions with comfort. No complicated language. No pressure. Just honest conversations and techniques that you will remember.

I work with women and couples who feel stuck in recurring patterns—overthinking, reactivity, shutdown, overwhelm, or relationship dynamics that never seem to shift. Many of my clients are navigating ADHD-adjacent challenges, chronic stress, or trauma-related patterns, even if they’ve never used those words to describe their experience. They’re not looking for quick fixes; they’re looking for understanding, steadiness, and a way forward that feels grounded and real.

I work with adults and teens and provide individual counseling. I offer both online and in person session. No matter where you are in this healing process; first time seeing a therapist or seasoned client who has already done a lot of the inner work, my door is open for you. I specifically tailor each session to what your specific needs are as my client, I do not operate from a cookie cutter model. Our work will have a balance and a flow to it meaning not every session will be the same, some sessions will have break throughs and other times we may keep it light and have a few laughs.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
