“Play therapy is based upon the fact that play is the child’s natural medium of self-expression. It is an opportunity which is given to the child to ‘play out’ his feelings and problems just as, in certain types of adult therapy, an individual ‘talks out’ his difficulties.” (Virginia Axline)
Willow Counseling is here to partner with you and your family as you take the first step toward healing. Please contact us today for a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if one of our clinicians is a good fit for your family's needs.

You carry life-altering responsibility—charting care plans, closing deals, steering teams—yet the weight now feels unsustainable. Burnout blurs your focus; moral injury stirs guilt; anxiety hijacks sleep; perfectionism steals joy. You still aim high, but you want clarity, steadier nerves, restored purpose, and a private space where the stakes of licensure, reputation, or board review are understood.

Is your family going through a challenging legal situation that is affecting you and your children? Are you dealing with painful dynamics related to divorce, custody dispute, or parental alienation? Many therapists avoid potential court involvement at any cost, but not me! I am a forensic child and adolescent psychologist. This means that not only am I very well-trained in helping kids, adolescents and their families with a range of mental health concerns but also that I am completely comfortable meeting with attorneys/mediators and even going to court if you need me to testify. The legal stuff won't interfere with me helping YOU.

It can be difficult to feel truly understood—even by ourselves. Life events may shift or shake our perspectives, leaving us stuck, confused, or lonely. At times, this can lead us down paths that don’t serve us well. It can feel especially challenging when we watch loved ones—our children, siblings, or partners—struggle through their own hardships.

It is my belief that struggles come from not being able to reach our true potential. It is my goal to honor you and your potential, and help you do the same. When we feel nurtured, safe, and supported, we begin to become who we truly can be. I find that resolving one area of difficulty often leads to other difficulties resolving.

My name is Iesha Anderson. I was born and raised in Houston, TX and graduated from Prairie View A&M University. I also attended Texas Southern University with a Bachelors in Psychology. Academics were a very important part of my life. I realized at an early age that education was vital to my future success in life and the life of others. I have always had a passion for counseling and helping since the first day I sat in my psychology course during my journey in undergraduate school. My experience in Real Estate, taxes, customer service, and mental health has equipped me with the ability to relate and understand where others are coming from. I have always had a passion for special populations and was blessed to find a career that combined my love for both, families and individuals.

You’re tired of holding it together while feeling overwhelmed inside. Your mind is busy, your body is tense, and you keep repeating the same patterns—overthinking, people-pleasing, shutting down, or snapping—then feeling guilty after. You want to feel steady, make decisions with confidence, and reconnect with what matters. Mostly, you want life to feel livable again, not like a constant grind.

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
