I tend to utilize CBT and EMDR techniques in session, as I am trained by the EMDR institute.
I am a "Spanglish"-speaking, Licensed Professional Counselor and I am passionate about helping people. I believe that we all do the best that we can with what is presented to us but can get stuck trying to manage life's challenges and dealing with past, impactful experiences. I believe that, with a willingness to reflect on self and to try new skills, anyone can change and regain control of his or her life. I really enjoy helping clients work through traumatic experiences but also work with anxiety, depression, and everyday stress.

EMDR for children and adults is one of the best therapies with a proven way of finding peace after trauma especially for those officially diagnosed with PTSD.
There is HOPE for bringing your family through hard times. I focus on helping children with a variety of concerns from behavior issues at home or in school to traumatic events such as abuse, neglect, divorce, and more. I counsel the child, the whole family or just the parents depending on what everyone needs. Adults who are dealing with anxiety or know they have experienced trauma in their life, this does not have to control you any longer, I can help.

I have deep training in numerous trauma/addiction/couples therapies (psychodynamic, CBT, EMDR , addictions, Gestalt) and have learned that amazing progress can be accomplished in/through these areas.
I offer In-Office and Online therapy. Both are equally effective, easy to access and greatly appreciated by my clients. I focus on/value your needs first. As we check-in together, connection, trust and comfort create an honest space for you to share and grow. I approach therapy as a dynamic partnership - where proven technique and deep relational connection yield cognitive, emotional and spiritual integration. Honing technique to fit client needs + personalized connectivity yields clarity and growth. Moving through the process, we target and work toward this result...together.

I am EMDR trained and I thoroughly enjoy using this in sessions to help clients find healing from trauma and eating disorders.
I’m not your typical therapist. I would be best described as patient, direct, confident and a badass. I use these strengths to help my clients because I firmly believe each person has the ability to heal and to be their own personal badass. I love nothing more than to advocate for you to be the best version of you. I will push you and support you through whatever life throws at you. I do this because eating disorders and trauma get in the way of you getting to be you- freely, authentically YOU. I am here to help you find and fully embrace this version of you because no matter what life has taught you, you deserve good things.

I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing ( EMDR ) which is a psychotherapy using bilateral stimulation to help clients process and become more desensitized to traumatic experiences, anxiety, PTSD.
I have a passion for working with couples, families, individuals and teens through a systemic lens. By counseling from a systemic perspective, I can more easily identify what systems (work, school, home life, marriage, etc.) are negatively affecting you while also uncovering unhealthy, ingrained family patterns and beliefs that may keep you emotionally reactive, anxious, and attached. A lot of families and couples get nervous to come in because they are afraid of being judged or exposed, but it is actually more helpful so that I can properly observe, intervene, challenge and mediate in order to help you grow closer to one another.

I use person-centered counseling as well as EMDR .
I see clients who may be dealing with unresolved past issues and/or trauma and are wanting to work through those feelings so they can enjoy life. My clients also include those who may be experiencing grief, anxiety, strained relationships and parenting issues. I love working with couples - we all want to be that couple in our 70s walking down the beach holding hands. I can help you get there! One of my passions is working with families who are struggling with their relationships - I offer young families help and I work with older family members who want to restore relationships that may have been strained.

Utilizing tools like EMDR and BSP, you'll begin to heal, leading to a reset and rewiring of your coping.
Relationships are hard! The drama and emotional roller coaster are exhausting. After trying diligently to give all that you can, you end up dumped, rejected, or betrayed again. Beating yourself up, inevitably feeling unlovable. So you hide your emotions and stay busy to protect yourself. But inside, it's impossible to ignore that sadness and loneliness are growing. All you want is someone who cares and who can be there for you. But it's hard to attract the right person. Your friends are moving on with their lives, while you wonder if happiness just wasn't meant for you. You're so tired of trying that you feel resentful and empty.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
