Whether it's
children
with big feelings or behaviors they can’t control or teens struggling with sadness, anxiety, or stress, I'm here to help with teaching ways to identify and cope with these emotions. Perhaps you have a foster or adopted
child
who is struggling with behaviors due to the feelings of loss. Are you a caregiver of a teen or preteen and feel disconnected and need a way to understand each other? Are you divorced or going through a divorce and aren't co-parenting well? I help parents learn to co-parent effectively for the best interest of the
child
.

Life is a journey with peaks and valleys. It can be so beautiful and rewarding, but yet stressful, overwhelming, and unpredictable! Each person's journey is different and I want to help guide you to a better place. I became a counselor because I felt connected to
children
, adolescents, and young adults. As a counselor, I can provide empathy, emotional and academic support, guidance, encouragement, coping skills, problem solving, social skills, overcoming life's challenges, and motivating the unmotivated. I believe we can all thrive in life. We just have to make the choice to want to and make necessary steps to achieve it.

Difficult situations of the past can have lasting effects on our futures. You’ve seen this first hand with your
child
or teen. Their life has been altered at such a young age, and they don’t know how to express their feelings towards it. So they express it by acting out; by being angry, not socializing like they used to, or by breaking the rules. It’s a burden seeing them go through this, and not knowing how to help them.

I have almost ten years experience working with
children
, adolescents, teenagers, and families.
It is my belief that struggles come from not being able to reach our true potential. It is my goal to honor you and your potential, and help you do the same. When we feel nurtured, safe, and supported, we begin to become who we truly can be. I find that resolving one area of difficulty often leads to other difficulties resolving.

Both
child
-centered play therapy and client centered psychodynamic therapy support your intrapsychic need to be known and valued by a trusted other.
There are basic truths of human psychology that most people understand intuitively. We do not fully know ourselves; the things we do not know can cause suffering. There is a benefit to self-awareness. I will support you as you develop your innate capacity to be with your own life, just as it is, and assist as you develop more effective strategies for living joyfully and with compassion for yourself as well as others. As we bring together your sense of yourself in past, present and future states, feelings of organization and coherence develop. Choice is restored.

Child
, Adolescent, Adult, Couple & Family.
Therapy is the process whereby an individual, couple or family becomes self-empowered and strengthened though developing an understanding of themselves and others fostered by love. It is how one explores their needs and goals or desires to promote emotional health and sense of well-being at any and every age. No one and nothing is one size fits all. Every person is unique and so will be our approach to helping ease the discomfort, worry and frustration. I am a strengths-based therapist. This means: look at what you are already doing "right" and build from there. You are always safe with me to say anything, literally. I will listen.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
