I have also had success in working with trauma, stress, anxiety, and many other issues through the use of hypnoanalysis.
There are many transitions in life that seem to shake us to our very core! Are you feeling lonely in your marriage? Confused about your relationship with your child? Do you find yourself at a crossroad in your life without a clear sense of direction? Do you feel that you have lost yourself? I can help you to rediscover your path, and to examine your alternatives.

This past year has brought struggles for many people. Job insecurity, anxiety, and wondering if we are doing the right thing for our families are just some of the challenges we face everyday. If you have been dealing with these thoughts and more, reaching out to a counselor may be a way to help. Trying to find our place in the chaos of pressures that we have from the world and the internal demands we place on ourselves can wear us out. This may be causing you to interact, communicate, and react to your family/friends in ways you never did before.

I am your OCD and anxiety specialist in The Woodlands, Texas. I work with individuals who suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, and general anxiety. Our fears and subsequent behaviors, begin with distressing and intrusive thoughts. In order to feel safe and find relief, we do we what we can to make the uncomfortable thoughts and feelings go away. You may find yourself engaging in ritualistic behaviors such as avoidance, reassurance seeking, overt behaviors, and even mental compulsions. But many times, our solutions do not break the cycle and our anxiety worsens.

I provide evidence-based therapies for individuals experiencing anxiety, OCD, depression, phobias, trauma, health concerns, grief, academic and professional challenges, and feelings of being stagnant.
Recognizing your strengths, even if you haven't seen them for a while or have never acknowledged them, is important in overcoming any problem you are facing. It is my job and my pleasure to help you identify your strengths and gain life-long strategies for happier living. People often become more hopeful and find that the therapeutic process is very helpful. I use humor where we can because therapy should not feel like a chore. It is your opportunity to have a mentor walk with you through a difficult time while providing support, techniques and guidance to help you create the life you envision.

While the idea of therapy may seem overwhelming, what's even more overwhelming is having to deal with heavy emotions, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, pain, pre-marital and marital issues all on your own.
I have a passion for working with couples, individuals and first responders through a systemic lens. By counseling from a systemic perspective, I can more easily identify what systems (work, school, home life, marriage, etc.) are negatively affecting you while also uncovering unhealthy, ingrained family patterns and beliefs that may keep you emotionally reactive, anxious, and attached. A lot of families and couples get nervous to come in because they are afraid of being judged or exposed, but it is actually more helpful so that I can properly observe, intervene, challenge and mediate in order to help you grow closer to one another.

It seems like everyone around you is smiling and enjoying life. How do they do it? They look so confident and carefree, while even the smallest task feels insurmountable to you. Just going about daily life is like climbing a mountain, yet never reaching the top. The moment your eyes open, anxiety and depression greet you, stalking you throughout the day. Your mind is full of criticism and self-doubt. Yet you keep your pain a secret, because you're mortified and ashamed. Besides, your life is no worse than anyone else’s, right? Would they believe you’re suffering -- or blame you for feeling so bad? Maybe you even blame yourself...

If you've noticed a shift in your own or your child’s mental health or if your teenager is distancing themselves, you're in the right place. If you are struggling with anxious feelings, confidence, and managing life transitions, that is okay. Being human comes with challenges for all of us, no matter what. It can be difficult to figure out how to navigate the transitions of school or work, relationships, and family dynamics. The first step of reaching out is the hardest. My goal is to welcome you into therapy with genuine care and work collaboratively with you and/or your child to heal and grow.

I work with individuals who are dealing with negative thinking, anger, anxiety, depression & low self esteem.
I have a passion for working with couples by improving communication to reduce conflict. I help couples understand how their history has impacted who they are today. Using a solution focused approach and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, we will explore unconscious triggers, unmet needs and gain a deeper understanding of our behavioral responses. While working on guided communication exercises, the couple will learn effective ways to express their needs and develop appropriate behavioral responses during conflict.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
