While tailored to the specific needs of each client, my therapeutic style is often grounded in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) while drawing from other modalities such as CBT, DBT, IFS, Solution-Focused, Somatic and Gestalt.
My approach to therapy centers on the belief that people are capable of profound change when given the right support. I believe it important to provide a judgment-free space where people are seen as a whole person rather than their presenting concern. I work with individuals and families of all ages, respecting each person’s unique story as we process and navigate life’s many challenges together.

I also use IFS and attachment theory, building toward deeper processing at your pace before we dive in.
You have not felt like yourself and you are not sure who you are becoming on the other side of this. Maybe you are grieving a person, a pregnancy, a plan, a dream, or a version of your life you had planned. Maybe your birth experience left you feeling disconnected from your baby in ways that are hard to admit. Maybe infertility has quietly taken over everything and you are carrying a question you are afraid to say out loud. Or you are standing at the edge of a major life transition with no idea who you are anymore. You deserve a therapist who has navigated her own life shifting and shows up ready to help you find your footing.

I’m trained in EMDR and integrate body-based work with IFS-informed parts work and ACT-informed tools.
Trauma doesn’t just live in your memories—it lives in your body, your relationships, and your nervous system. You may be high-functioning on the outside while inside feeling tense, exhausted, disconnected, or always on edge. If you grew up too fast, learned to take care of others, or never felt fully safe being yourself, your system adapted to survive. Those adaptations made sense then. They don’t have to run your life now.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure..." My work with clients revolves around the truth that we are all born perfect and worthy of love. Traumatic experiences may have taught you that closing off your heart is safer or creating defenses protects you from being hurt again. You may hold core beliefs about yourself and the world such as: “I am worthless and unworthy of love”, “the world is not safe”, “people I love and care about will leave me”. I will guide you as you break free from the past, feel safe and calm, and begin to live fully in the present.

Your past is invading your present. Your emotions overwhelm you at times. Many of your relationships are unfulfilling - or outright painful. Your self-esteem is low to non-existent, and you often feel you aren’t good enough. Celebrating your successes is hard for you because you feel like you don’t deserve them. Your inner critic is your constant companion. And the worst part is: overcoming these obstacles seems like a huge mountain to climb. You don’t know where or who to go to for help. We all need connection more than ever right now. I’d love to help!

You’ve read all the books and talked about yourself in therapy before, but you’re still caught in a vicious web of overthinking and self-criticism. Your relationships feel one-sided, anxiety provoking, or superficial. You’re trying to be perfect and show up for others, but inside you carry the private weight of loneliness, exhaustion and psychological invisibility. I work with thoughtful, reflective adults who feel stuck in invisible patterns — chronic overwhelm, emotional disconnection, addiction, perfectionism — and sense there is more to life than what they're going through or what meets the eye.

My approach integrates relational psychoanalysis, Internal Family Systems, EMDR & clinical hypnotherapy—with particular attention to how the self is made of many parts/states.
You may be naturally reflective and articulate—and yet something feels distant, muted, or just out of reach. I work with thoughtful, introspective adults navigating dissociation, identity concerns and experiences that resist easy explanation: depersonalization/derealization (DP/DR), spiritual or near-death experiences, and other encounters that changed everything but left few roadmaps. My style is depth-oriented (yet practical & highly intentional), collaborative, and a bit unconventional—I bring in science, metaphor & the occasional film reference to make psychological experiences feel more real and less isolating.

You have the potential for an authentic & happy life, healing from your past, and the capacity for growth to become your best self. The human struggle to grow is often connected to an avoidance of the self and experiences. We use avoidance to protect ourselves from the pain of emotional wounds, loss, trauma, fear, etc. but it often keeps us from the very thing that could create the change we desire. I will guide you in the dance of effort and surrender to reach your growth & healing goals and to create more fulfilling interactions with yourself and others.

I often draw influence from use of parts work ( IFS), attachment, relational-cultural therapy, and Somatic Experiencing.
If you are wanting to further explore your relationship with yourself, or heal from your traumatic experiences, you’re in the right place. I am a Latina trauma therapist & my main areas of focus are trauma and PTSD, racial identity, and relationship issues, though my focuses vary greatly. I use a culturally sensitive, trauma focused, and relational approach, along with EMDR. I intimately understand that humans are multifaceted and nuanced, and help you embrace your true authentic self. I work with adults and teens 16+ all over Texas, but really resonate with Gen Z'ers and Millennials!

From there we build a plan around what works for you, utilizing research-backed modalities such as Gottman method, EFT, IFS, Family Systems, and CBT.
If you're navigating intimacy struggles, a strained marriage, or the weight of past trauma, I help you do focused, goal-oriented work — not "forever therapy." I'm Ellen, an LPC specializing in sex therapy, anxiety, work stress, familial relationship stress, couples counseling, and trauma treatment with EMDR. My clients are individuals and couples who want to feel closer, calmer, and more themselves again. Together we build real tools you can use between sessions, so therapy has momentum instead of dragging on for years. I'd love to offer you a free consultation to see if we're the right fit.

Life has a way of knocking us off our center. If you’re moving through a season that feels heavy, disorienting, or far from who you know yourself to be, I’m really glad you found your way here. My work focuses on supporting people who are navigating anxiety, depression, chronic illness, cancer, profound grief, and the kinds of life transitions that can quietly (or loudly) reshape everything. I’m drawn to the tender, complicated parts of being human; places where identity gets shaken, where relationships shift, where the body carries its own story.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
