Hello! I am excited to start meeting with you. You know your teenager better than anyone, and lately something feels off. Maybe they've pulled away, stopped sleeping, or can't shake an anxiety that follows them into every classroom, every group chat, every quiet moment. You've tried talking. You've tried waiting it out. Now you're ready for someone who actually gets it — not just textbook adolescence, but the real, complicated, sometimes heartbreaking experience of being a teenager today. That's exactly the work I've spent 25 years doing.

I work with adults, adolescents and families. We can all get trapped in our thoughts and circular logic that it’s like living with our head in a closed bag. Therapy can open that up as thoughts are examined and feelings acknowledged. I work with those anxious, depressed, confused, those having experienced trauma and those having a serious mental disorder. Youth have a tough time these days and can want an adult to listen to them, some especially if it’s not a parent. And parents are exhausted making sense of their teens and wanting the best for them. Keeping the family in the loop, I work equally well with boys and girls.

Life is simultaneously amazingly beautiful and painfully terrifying. How we cope with these terrifying and difficult moments can impact how we see and enjoy the beautiful moments life has to offer. When we are faced with these difficult moments, sometimes, we turn to unhealthy ways of coping, further blocking our ability to grow. I want to help you take back the control that these challenges have taken away from you, so you can lead a more satisfying life. You have the power within to overcome these difficulties and my goal is to help you tap into your inner strength and resources.

I have a certification as an Anger Treatment Professional.
Learn how to develop more happiness; reduce life's suffering; overcome unhelpful thinking patterns, beliefs, and behaviors; and create more vitality and meaning for your life. I find that the clients that work well with me want more than a sterile, clinical experience. They want professionalism with warmth and humor as part of their therapy. They are also those willing to work and do what's necessary to experience the changes they desire. Of course, they expect that of me as well, and are willing and ready to set goals to improve their experiences in life.

I have hope when working with people who are going through intense emotion such as of anger, anxiety, or depression.
As a clinician I'm very change-oriented. That is to say that while learning to cope with a painful situation is good, it still leaves you in a painful situation. I'll work with you to determine what therapy model best fits the way you understand the world. As part of that, we'll collaborate on setting goals and enacting change in your life.

How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
