Families experience a wide range of emotions when navigating transitional moments. In getting to know clients, I remain curious and interested as the clients speak to me. I see therapy as a way through despair and toward hope. Fostering hope is a key component of my therapeutic approach.

Therapy can sometimes be hard work, but it should also be rewarding and fun! My ideal client is looking for a collaborator/consultant- you are the expert in your own life; I want to reflect, help identify priorities, challenge, and offer new perspectives. I specialize in individual and couples' therapy, with special interests in academic and career progress, dilemmas of meaning and purpose, problematic family dynamics, sexual orientation and gender identity concepts, navigating ethical nonmonogamy, and negotiation and conflict resolution. I have a passion for destigmatizing mental health and advocating for wider access to services.

Hi there! I have immediate availability, and the first session is free! I work with individuals, couples, and families who may be facing anxiety, stress, relationship struggles, family tension, emotional pain, or life transitions that feel hard to carry alone. Some come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, hurt, or unsure of how to move forward. Others simply sense that something is not working and want support making sense of it. Many are looking for a safe, supportive space to better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and be able to move forward with more peace and clarity in their lives.

You’ve been the strong one for so long — steady, capable, the person others rely on. But lately, you may feel worn in ways rest can’t touch: tired to your core, anxious without a clear reason, or quietly disconnected from yourself. Maybe you’re holding grief you’ve never named, stuck in old patterns like over-functioning, keeping the peace, or caring for everyone but you. And beneath it all is the question: does anyone truly see me? Here, you don’t have to be “fine.”

There are many changes and adjustments in life that affect us in different ways. People have a wide range of emotions which can be overwhelming. Although life can be challenging to manage, we are presented with opportunities to grow. My counseling style is empathetic and genuine. Understanding and creating an atmosphere of support and empathy to be one's genuine self is important to me. Providing the opportunity for a more authentic self is a stepping stone to confidence. My goal is to provide you with a safe place to tell your story.

I know how overwhelming it can be to reach out for support, especially when it means facing some of the hardest moments of your life. If you're feeling unsure, I want you to know—you’re not alone. I’ve been there. I grew up in a home filled with generational trauma and dysfunction, and I had to do my own hard work to heal, set boundaries, and learn what healthy relationships look like. Because of that journey, I deeply understand how difficult, yet transformative, this process can be.

My main forms of therapy tend to be solution focused, cognitive behavioral therapy and person centered with a priority in making changes in behavior and thinking. However, all forms of therapy are used in my practice including but not limited to narrative, reality, mindfulness, play therapy, some art therapy, and sand tray therapy to explore all facets of the self. I will use whatever works best for you. I believe that therapy is a place to explore uncomfortable emotions, issues, and trauma, as well as explore who you are, who you have been and what you want for your future with a focus on your strengths, resilience, and balance.

Hello! I work mostly with individuals, couples, and families on issues related to conflict and communication. This includes violence and anger management. My counseling style involves asking lots of questions, listening intently, and providing feedback unique to your situation, rather than offering one-size-fits-all advice. I believe all people are capable of growth and change when they are willing to examine their role in relational dynamics. I enjoy working with clients from a variety of economic, racial, cultural, and spiritual backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQ+ community.

You might be going through a major life shift such as a relationship change, becoming a parent, moving somewhere new, or simply realizing you don’t feel like yourself lately. Maybe you’re usually the “strong one,” the thinker, the problem‑solver… but right now you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure what the next step should be. I work with teens and adults who think deeply, feel deeply, and want to understand themselves better. My style is warm, grounded, and practical. I use insight, reframing, psychoeducation and maybe some dark humor to help you untangle what’s going on beneath the surface.

Life’s journey brings both welcome and difficult experiences, and at times those challenges can feel overwhelming. Many people say they are “fine” while struggling inside. I work with teens, adults, couples, families, and military members navigating anxiety, trauma, moral injury, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. In a supportive and nonjudgmental space, we work together to better understand your experiences, build resilience, and move toward healing and meaningful change. Taking the first step toward support can feel difficult, but you don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Taylor County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
