Everyday leaves you feeling more defeated as a parent. You listen to other parents who seem to have it all together but for you it’s just failure, shame, and disappointment. The daily schedule of life with kids leaves you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, and frustrated. The Joy of Parenting is just not there for you. I get it! Working with kids and families is my superpower!

Hello! I'm Kailee and my passion for mental health work stems from my own experiences within the field. A social worker once saved me and it ignited a fire within my soul to help others who struggle with trauma, women's issues, or suicidal ideation. I am an Air Force veteran, and I am passionate about helping fellow veterans, military members, and first responders. I also work with perinatal mood & anxiety disorders. I use an eclectic approach to helping my clients as I believe there is no "one size fits all" for everyone. I strongly believe that you have the answers, sometimes you just need help finding them!

As the world continues to change and evolve, we are all faced with the challenge of how to cope with the effects of said change. Since we are all unique in our experiences, our stories are written in a voice as unique as we are. Our stories continue to be written and rewritten with each and every experience that comes our way. While our stories are being written, we deserve a space to process the experiences and challenges, that come our way.

Who are you? That's a question that we are often asked and many of us are still on a mission to find the answer to that question. Let's journey together to uncover the You that has possibly been buried by childhood trauma, an abusive relationship or even the burden of daily responsibilities that you face. My name is Brandi Mizell and I specialize in assisting those wracked with the pains of depression, trauma, grief, identity crisis and substance use. I use acquired knowledge and an instinctive skill set to implement evidence-based techniques such as CBT and DBT. I also incorporate a holistic approach that puts You at the center

Life has a way of bringing us to our knees at times. It can feel completely overwhelming to navigate the emotions and experiences that come with being human. The good news is, you don't have to do it alone. I’d love to help you learn to process emotion in a way that fosters acceptance and healing. I specialize in working with adult individuals struggling with grief, anxiety, trauma, body image, life transitions (ie: college, parenthood, divorce, spiritual deconstruction), and caregivers of children with special needs. I work with clients from religious and non-religious contexts.

I believe that each individual has the strength and potential to live the life they have always dreamed of living! I am passionate about working with children and families. I have particular interest in helping stressed families deal with challenges associated with parenting and family dynamics. I truly believe that individuals know how to solve their own problems, however, they may lack self-confidence, support, or the courage to do so. Anxiety catches us and fear holds us, but we are not destined to live a life without hope!

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
