When people understand how trauma has changed them they can begin to change themselves. In therapy, you will discover the faulty thoughts and behaviors that persists and replace them with healthier alternatives. Therapy works best if its molded to your unique past, culture, attachment style and personality type.

I specialize in outsiders, those who think differently, live intensely, or feel too unconventional for standard therapy. From high performers to those hearing voices: if your thoughts run deep, your moods run strong, or your experiences feel unusual, you’re in the right place. I’ve helped clients stabilize mood swings, overcome depression, manage hallucinations, and earn promotions. Having faced PTSD myself, I know how dark life can seem, and how hope can return. Together, we’ll play detective, unearth the roots of your struggles, and optimize interventions that resonate with you. Accepting new clients. In-person sessions available.

My theoretical orientation is varied depending on your needs. I help you to formulate your therapy goals in a collaborative fashion. Although therapy can be distressing at times, I often use humor to decrease distress and increase coping skills. In addition, I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) techniques to build resources for positive coping skills. EMDR can help you face uncomfortable emotions, such as anxiety or depression, and reprocess traumatic memories.

I am a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience working with clients. My work is based upon my belief that human beings are inherently good. However, all too often we adopt limiting belief systems and habitual behavioral patterns which keep us from realizing our true nature. I work with clients who wish to regain life balance and integrity and I assist them in learning how to live the lives they intuitively know they are meant to live. My clients often present with depression, anxiety and/or relationship difficulties and work with me to feel better and sustain more on-going joy, love, and harmony in their lives.

I work with thoughtful, high-achieving, high-capacity individuals who feel deeply and think carefully about their lives + relationships. Many of my clients are navigating complex transitions—partnership shifts, parenting decisions, or questions of identity. I offer warm, judgment-free online therapy for individuals, mothers, and caregivers across the state. For nearly 20 years, I've supported parents and children in Texas. My clients are smart, high-functioning people who are usually great at what they do — but who are struggling with anxiety, overwhelm, perfectionism, ADHD, or the emotional weight of a major life transition.

A pleasure to meet you! Therapy with me is about co-creating a hearth - a therapeutic space for warmth, restoration, and growth along life’s journeys. I work with individuals and families who have experienced the effects of anxiety, depression, substance use, addiction, relational trauma, and complex trauma. These effects often leave us in chaotic cycles of either burning things to the ground or feeling cold and alone. I also am passionate about working with neurodivergent folks (ADHD and Autism) who have maybe felt outcast in their search for connection. Together, we rest and reflect on whatever creating a warm home means to you.

Emotional, psychological, and interpersonal/social growth is a continual process of self transformation and change. At points when one feels stuck or confused in that process, or when life just isn't working, it often helps to connect with a therapist. I provide a safe space where you can be, or recover/rediscover, your authentic self; deepen the emotional connection with yourself and others; clarify thoughts, beliefs, and values; consider new ways of being in the world and w/others; develop healthier adaptive strategies for relating to yourself and others; and work through past and/or present griefs and traumas.

Hi! I see adults and couples who feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or worn down by life and relationships. A lot of the people I work with are dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, intimacy concerns, or relationship stress. Many are also looking for an affirming space where they can feel fully seen and understood, including the LGBTQ+ community. I help by creating a supportive, down-to-earth environment where clients can feel safe, build insight, and start making real progress at their own pace.

Currently accepting new clients! My path as a therapist includes nonprofit work, substance use recovery, anger management, and correctional mental health. This diversity has taught me to look beyond labels and approach each person with curiosity, compassion, and without judgment. Today, I help adults navigate the stress that comes with the demands of everyday life, including anxiety and depression. Many appear to have it all together but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck. Together, we explore how thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences interact while identifying patterns that no longer serve you.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
