In addition to working with a diverse adult population, I have been trained in EMDR, life transitions, career development, spiritual growth, Jungian Dreamwork, Hypnosis, mens issues, step parenting and blended families.
Change in our lives is inevitable. The transition periods between times of stability in our lives are more common then we often care to admit. These transitions can trigger stress, anxiety, depression and other current and long standing psychological issues. I started my clinical practice in 1989 in Austin, Texas and specialize in helping adult individuals and couples who are experiencing transitions due to significant changes occurring in their lives.

Psychotherapy is an art and a science. The art is the use of oneself combining the intuitive sense; the naturalness in expressing comfort and caring; the ability to relate to all people; and the comfort in self-disclosure. The science is the skills and techniques we learn and the knowing what techniques will be helpful in moving clients beyond their walls towards a healthier life Please go to my website at http://www.rachelgunner.com to read my philosophy about psychotherapy, coaching and mediation.

Counseling is a trusting relationship where someone is actively seeking help from a professional who is willing to help. My goal is to explore my client's needs for therapy. From there, I will try to find out what they might expect from therapy such as developing the mental/emotional strength necessary to relate well with others, making decisions about relationship or career issues, reducing anxiety, improving self-esteem, or decreasing depressive symptoms that make their day difficult. I will be honest and understanding. It is my hope that each and everyone finds happiness, peace, and hope.

My background in psychology and Conscious Living coaching combine to offer organic practices which can be integrated into daily life with ease.
I am a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience working with clients. My work is based upon my belief that human beings are inherently good and yet all too often adopt limiting belief systems and habitual behavioral patterns which keep us from realizing our true nature. I work with clients who wish to regain their balance and integrity and assist them in learning how to live the lives they intuitively know they are meant to live. Clients often present with depression, anxiety and/or relationship difficulties and seek to feel better and sustain more on-going joy, love, and harmony in their lives.

My commitment to the methods of insight-oriented and mindfulness-based psychotherapy, which involve the careful tracing out of the threads of desire and fear in our lives, guides me in helping people find their optimal path and place in life.
The bottom line is this: psychotherapy should be affordable, smart, efficient, and caring. As I practice it, counseling involves helping persons understand their own nature and, especially, their desires and needs. Counseling offers a sanctuary for persons to sort out their lives and more intimately explore their direct experience. My practice is dedicated to the process of authentic transformation, arising from the client's and therapist's co-exploration of "what is."

We work with trauma, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, relationship patterns, life transitions, self-worth, and nervous system dysregulation.
Full Intentions is a therapy and movement practice that works at the intersection of mental health, identity, and the body. Most of the people who find us are carrying more than they talk about stress, anxiety, trauma, burnout, emotional numbness, impulsive patterns, or the pressure to keep it together for everyone else. We don’t rush your healing or ask you to “just think differently.”

I work with individuals and couples navigating life transitions, grief, creative blocks, chronic self-doubt, and relationship struggles.
I honor your story and help you rewrite it. You may be carrying a story about yourself that no longer serves you. Maybe it was shaped by trauma, anxiety, grief, or roles others assigned long ago. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and a professional writer, I offer a unique approach to healing that combines clinical insight with the power of story. In my practice, I use evidence-based modalities—narrative therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care—alongside creative tools drawn from decades of experience as a writer. Together, we will explore emotions, gain clarity, and build a more empowering inner narrative.

Life Coaching Therapists
What can I expect from life coaching?
Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?
Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?
Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?
Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
