EMDR
, hypnotherapy, and Psych-K provide powerful alternatives to traditional talk therapy approaches, identifying and reprogramming underlying belief systems and subconscious processes that block your best efforts from creating the outcomes you are looking for and deserve.
I love working with people who are motivated for something better in their lives but haven’t been able to figure out what’s blocking them from having it. This can include relationships, career, success, sports, family, happiness, confidence and more. Maybe you feel unworthy or incapable of having that something better. Maybe trauma, mental illness or something else you can’t even define knocked you off track. Maybe you never remember being on track because it has been so long since you had that experience. There is hope and together we can find answers.

I have been trained in
EMDR
and TBRI.
I am dedicated to helping adults achieve their goals for healthy relationships and fulfilling lives. Many people have problems with personal and professional relationships due to unhealthy relationship patterns. I collaborate with my clients to help them with communications skills, conflict resolution, and setting appropriate boundaries . Unaddressed trauma can lead to fear and anxiety caused by unrecognized triggers. The effects of both can cause people to develop relationship dynamics that they are unhappy with and do not possess the skills to correct. I have extensive training on processing trauma and I use modalities that are designed to make that process easier for my clients.

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (
EMDR
), Theraplay, a type of therapy that involves play to promote healing by strengthening attachment to caregivers, and Internal family systems (IFS).
I work with children and adolescents that are struggling with anxiety, and coping with hard things that have happened in the past. Everyone falls on hard times, and when they hit it is easy to feel like we are the only ones struggling, or the only one with kids who are struggling. Both of those things are not true. The therapy I provide shows kids and their parents that they are not defined by what happens to them, but are able to work through what has happened and grow stronger from it. Together we'll come up with a plan that best suits your child to cope and heal from what they have been struggling with.

I work with clients dealing with abuse, grief and loss, life transitions, reaching life goals, anxiety, depression, self-esteem and trauma. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment where I believe healing can begin to happen. I believe that we become "stuck" in behaviors that impede our growth and keeps us from living more fulfilling lives.

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
