You can count on me to be a nonjudgmental but always honest and straightforward partner in your treatment.
I began my professional career as a high school teacher. Working with patients 12 and up to identify and achieve their goals is my passion. For that reason, I left the world of test scores and grade point averages to become a therapist. Essentially, I see myself as a mirror encouraging my clients to confront their issues and a teammate assisting my clients to embrace and harness their innate strength and power to move forward even when choices seem limited.

Now scheduling in person & online. Help available for individuals, couples , and families experiencing anxiety, depression, perfectionism, self-esteem, guilt, academic/work pressure, people pleasing, and grief. I am a believer in therapy to alleviate distress but also as a regular part of wellness and recognize the importance the connection between our minds and bodies. Telling our stories is hard, but it can lead to a reduction in shame and guilt, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, help us confront false beliefs we hold about ourselves and our histories, and changes our lives for the better.

I encourage them to be self-compassionate, empower them to form healthier relationships, and support them through family issues and relationship struggles so they can live healthier lives for themselves and their families.
It can be scary & frustrating when you don’t feel like yourself & don’t know why you feel this. You’ve tried everything to help with your mood changes, overwhelming feelings of nervousness, guilt and not feeling good enough, but nothing seems to work. It can be scary reaching out to a therapist because you want to find someone who really connects with you. I began training in 2011 at The Weinberger Clinic and completed it at The Menninger Clinic. I believe in creating an alliance with my clients. My warm & compassionate demeanor allows me to empathize with my clients, put them at ease & help them open up.

No matter how hopeless your relationship seems, there's a way to transform devastation into inspiration QUICKLY.
Betrayal or Brink of Divorce? If people were to observe you from across the room, they might look at you and think everything was perfect. After all, you look pleasant and normal enough. What they wouldn't know by looking at you is that you're managing to hide the confusion, grief, heartbreak, and despair that someone who is experiencing the unraveling of a marriage would understand. Yes, you put up a good front because you have to, but the truth is that you're in the midst of dealing with what is perhaps the biggest disappointment of your life.

I work with a variety of issues from anxiety, self-esteem, depression, anger management, personal growth, social skills, conflict resolution, behavior modification, couples , family conflict grief, self-harm and suicide.
An ideal client seeks change, guidance and willing to take the steps in healing. My purpose is to treat the root of the problem and not the symptoms as healing begins from within. As a former educator, I take my expertise working with individuals based on their individual needs. Currently, as a Middle School Counselor I seek to understand the overall being, awareness and who they are becoming. Together we will focus on the importance of past experiences on present issues in order to evoke awareness, healing and perseverance.

I am a trained couples therapist and work with conflict, poor communication, emotional disconnection, infidelity, ambivalence about staying or leaving and most commonly, resentment. It is easy to get derailed and end up hurting, rather than caring for your partner . Through assessment and active guidance, I can help you find your way back to your partner and regain the closeness you crave. At the Houston Relationship Institute, we specialize in couples work. If you would like to discuss your specific situation to determine if I can help, please reach out through phone or e-mail!

We will partner in identifying unhealthy thinking and behavioral patterns, in order to promote a self awareness and establish new ways of handling life's challenges.
Reaching out for professional help is the first and often most difficult step of the process. I commend you for investing the time to explore the best fit partnership to meet your need(s). My approach is to function as a vessel for individuals to find a safe place of refuge, where they can be heard or offered a compassionate voice of reason during a time of chaos.

I have experience working with French expats, with individuals & couples with a military background, & with pro-athletes and their wives in couples therapy.
I am confident in my skills as a therapist to help you help yourself. What I would require of you, in turn, is a willingness to search yourself and a willingness to take steps to learn to grow personally. I have worked with many issues from depression, relationship issues (including couples and marital therapy), anxiety issues, stress related issues, co-dependency issues, adjustment issues such as going through a divorce or recovering from a divorce (but not limited to those life events), and loss issues which may include trauma.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
