Matt's experience includes working with adults and adolescents dealing with a variety of issues including: marriage and family struggles, drug and alcohol addiction, sexual addiction, men's issues, depression, divorce mediation and other life struggles. Additionally, Matt is a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist (CART) experienced in helping individuals work through anger.

An ideal client seeks change, guidance and willing to take the steps in healing. My purpose is to treat the root of the problem and not the symptoms as healing begins from within. As a former educator, I take my expertise working with individuals based on their individual needs. Currently, as a Middle School Counselor I seek to understand the overall being, awareness and who they are becoming. I have been helping children, teens and adults for over 20 years. I work with a wide array of issues and problems that we all face in life. I have extensive experience in treating individuals with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, communication issues, and ADD/ADHD. I work closely with the family law community to provide Reunification Therapy. This service will typically be initiated through a court-order or an attorney referral. The goal of Reunification Therapy is to repair the parent-child relationship within the context of a high-conflict divorce/separation.

For 20 years, I have helped children and their families cope with bad things that sometimes happen in a child's life. This includes abuse, divorce, school issues, loss of a loved one, or low self-esteem. I understand the ripple effects that these can have on family members and how hard it is to watch your child struggle. I use a neuroscience-informed approach to create a safe environment for clients to release the emotional pain in a way that makes the most effective use of your time.

I am a bilingual English/Spanish Licensed Professional Counselor and have thorough experience in dealing with trauma and crisis related issues as well as extensive knowledge in individual therapy, family therapy, couples counseling, and group counseling. My goal is to help the client effectively resolve any struggles in which they may be going through in order for them to be able to live a calm and fulfilling life.

Meagan uses a family system approach, which allows for the entire family to benefit and heal from the therapeutic process. Together we will create a plan that best suits your family’s needs. Meagan’s focus is working with children from hard places; children who have experienced traumas, adopted children, foster children, and children from divorced families. These can include but are not limited to those who struggle with self-regulation, behavior responses, anxiety, and meltdowns.

I specialize in working with children and parents. I have been working in the field of play therapy since 2011 when I was a graduate student. My approach to play therapy is non-directive, client-centered play therapy. I have worked with children from diverse backgrounds. I look at each child and figure out which therapeutic modality works best for them. In terms of parenting, I use Theraplay to build the attachment bond with the parent and child. I also assess the family and we can collaborate on ways that meet your family's needs.

My purpose as a therapist is to assist individuals with identifying problems and finding solutions to solve them. We all experience problems in our lives, but we sometimes need assistance solving them and coping with issues that may arise due to them. I assist individuals with identifying strengths that may be utilized to solve problems, formulating goals to improve coping skills, and making decisions regarding lifestyle changes to assist with facing life's challenges.
