On a personal note, I've been married for over twenty-eight years and am a mother of two: an adult and a teenager .
Is constant worry or lack of sleep making you feel helpless? Feeling overwhelmed or exhausted and finding it difficult to focus? Are you dealing with a difficult person, or stressed out by family life? My clients come to me for many different reasons, but the most common ones are: overcoming symptoms of stress and anxiety, improving marital and family relationships, communication skills, parenting challenges, implementing boundaries with extended family, managing blended marriages and families, and building self-confidence.

With over 15 years working with At-Risk Teens/Adolescents, I have created a multidisciplinary intervention and treatment process that specializes in teen / adolescent behavioral health as well as their families.
Therapy does not mean “Failure”. However, it is a manner to help clients overcome their problems safely, effectively, and became the better version of themselves. There are many reasons for people to seek out counseling — grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and relationships are among the most common; however, they do not know the best course of action to take. Sometimes you might need an unbiased viewpoint to put things into perspective. Allow me to help you embrace life adaptively.

” - Levine Contact me today, so we can identify mental health support for you, your child or teen .
As adults, we naturally want to protect children from the pain of loss or the traumatic experiences of life challenges. Children’s response to worries and struggles may cause heartbreak for parents and caretakers to witness firsthand sadness, big emotions, and concerning behaviors. Children and teens should not face the challenges and pain alone. They need support, guidance, and a safe place to process struggles. As a result of psychotherapy, facing struggles and challenges can help kids build determination, courage, coping skills and confidence.

Therapy is for everyone. Whether you are looking for support and treatment for anxiety/depression/trauma/etc. or if you just need someone to talk to and share your life and relationships with, my therapeutic approach is to create goals and work towards life changes that are important and meaningful to you. My main goal as a therapist is to create a safe, open, and non-judgmental space that prioritizes the client's needs. I want the change and growth to be meaningful and authentic for each client. For those looking to talk about gender, sexuality, and non-traditional or non-conforming life experiences/choices, this is a safe place.

I am an LPC. I provide mental health therapy from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach. It is my belief that the mind is an individual's most powerful tool in this life. If one has the power and ability to shift their thought process and perspective, then there's so much that can be accomplished. I live by the belief of "Mind over Matter." Our emotions and actions are sometimes heavily influenced by our thoughts. As a mental health therapist, I believe the first step to healing is acknowledging thoughts which in turn leads to focus of emotions and actions.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
