Many of us struggle with the fear of letting go...of something. It can be a frightening process and you may feel hopeless and helpless at times. However, the empowerment that can be gained by letting go and ridding yourself of negative thoughts can be truly life changing. It may be hard, but my role is to help you reach your personal goals. Counseling is my second career. In the earlier part of my life, I earned an MBA and spent 10 years working in international sales and marketing. I was moved to begin a new career helping other people after counseling personally turned my life around and provided me with balance and peace.

I AM A WARRIOR! I AM A FIGHTER! I AM A CONQUEROR! I AM A SURVIVOR of SEXUAL ASSAULT, NARCISSISTIC ABUSE, and CANCER! My purpose in life is to help, assist, and advocate for survivors of child sexual abuse, rape, dating/domestic violence, and or cancer. I am determined to change the narrative of survivors. There are so many survivors that will not ask for help because it is a sign of weakness. We need to change that mindset. You have to make the first step, and when you do, I will be there to help you start and get through your healing and recovery journey.

There is no 'right' way through this. There is just 'through.' Families are under tremendous pressure, even more so during these times. Children & teens spent too long without their social support and are now trying to achieve a new normal. This fear and anxiety of the unknown is similar to those experienced by adults recently. I can help adults, teens, & children work through the fear, anxiety, stress and trauma and help you build strong, healthy, resilient individuals and families. I enjoy working with all ages and specialize in family conflict, anxiety/depression, trauma, PTSD, Veterans, First Responders, & child specialties.

Life can be overwhelming as we maneuver through difficult life transitions and encounter painful events. Challenging situations can bring-up strong emotions, distorted thoughts, negative behaviors, and destructive core beliefs that may become unmanageable and negatively impact your life. The way you have coped in the past may no longer be working and you may be unsure how to move forward. I believe that we all have the power to heal within ourselves. Change can be difficult, but we can work to figure out your next steps towards your goals.

Within themselves, each person has the power and strength to tackle the challenges and difficulties they face. It’s my job, as a clinician, to help them access that power and strength, and I do this by first providing a non-judgmental and positive environment. This allows us to identify the thoughts and perceptions that are influencing their actions, both positive and negative. Real, affirming change can happen when we openly examine the thinking that is holding us back and work to change those thoughts that are no longer servicing our goals. I’m excited to help clients with that self-examination and re-building process.

I enjoy working with young people and adults as they move along their paths of self-discovery and become the best version of themselves. Throughout the life journey, challenges are presented which offer each us to opportunity to grow. In the process of growth, we contend with uncertainty and often experience discomfort. A variety of therapeutic tools such as eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and action methods can be utilized in order that adults and adolescents, can be supported as they navigate the unknown paths related to past events, current challenges and future desires.

Are you a young to middle aged adult that gives and caters to others yet feels lost from your own life’s purpose? Do you set meaningful goals but stay stuck in procrastination? Does high anxiety drive self-sabotaging behaviors of over eating, drinking, and screen time? You love the people in your life yet feel unseen or find yourself in a toxic relationship you keep hoping will change. Experiences in our past such as childhood neglect, shaming, bullying, a divorced or conflict in the home, loss of a loved one or other adverse events have a lasting negative impact on our lives today.

I look forward to the opportunity to work with you, and to walk together to heal, to unlock your potential, and to achieve your goals. Being from a different country has become a strength in my practice to naturally be culturally sensitive in my sessions and to have more meaningful interactions with my clients of different backgrounds.

Does it seem like emotions are taking over your life – anxiety, hurt, anger, sadness? Are you struggling with grief, trauma, or other life transitions? Are you noticing relationships are becoming more difficult and problems are surfacing at home, work, or school? Are you turning to coping tools that may help in the moment, but are starting to make things worse overall - drug use, unhealthy relationships, isolation, or other behaviors? Are you losing sight of yourself, the person you want to be, and the strengths you have? If you identify with any of these questions, know you are not alone.

The single most important issue for traumatized people is to find a sense of safety in their own bodies- Dr. Bessel van Der Kolk. As your therapist, I meet you where you currently are and assist you in discovering and exploring your truth. I always maintain a safe space so that you feel comfortable with addressing current obstacles and challenges in your life. Through my education and experience, I have learned that people are truly doing the best they can at all times. Life can be so difficult, and we as humans are tasked with the complex job of navigating those difficulties. I utilize a multi-dimensional, trauma-informed, and attachment-based approach to help clients understand themselves, others, and their place in the world. My speciality is working with any ages who experience trauma/grief. However, when working with anyone, my goal is to give you tools, skills, and support to help you navigate the world outside of therapy. You deserve to feel safe, seen, heard, and understood.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.
How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.
Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.
How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
