I have been around the block a time or two myself, and I know what it is like to try to save a burning marriage and also to go through the divorce part.
I'm a little different... and you probably are too...I am a LMFT, but I specialize in DIVORCE. We can either get you there calmly or help you turn things around. Either way, it is NOT easy. I also have family mediation services available and can set hours to accommodate most clients. I am a credentialed Advanced Mediator and Arbitrator. I am a private pay solution that is offering the utmost in client comfort and confidentiality. I come to you or we can do online through a secure service. Either way, "something's gotta give" so let me help you through that process.

I understand the struggles of relational issues, divorce and parenthood, the pros and cons of mid-life and aging, the challenges of balancing blended families, empty-nesting, and grief.
Establishing a strong personal connection with my clients is the foundation for success. Creating a roadmap, is important in the beginning. It helps clients track their own progress and I believe it's important for clients to feel a true sense of accomplishment throughout their therapeutic journey of self-discovery. As a seasoned therapist with over 25 years in the mental health field, I’ve been fortunate to work with clients of all ages with a variety of needs. I have the skills to help individuals, families and couples navigate through the rough spots from a place of personal experience and professional perspective.

Parenting is not what you thought it would be like and you are not enjoying your child. Your child worries all of the time, asks repetitive questions, and has trouble sleeping. You struggle to get your child to comply with simple demands and tantrums ruin your days. Your teenager is struggling socially and has stopped opening up to you. You worry how your child is adjusting to your divorce. Your child's teacher sends home notes daily about your child's misbehavior.

Also, I have facilitated divorce care for adults and children experiencing divorce.
My goal is to help individuals, couples, and families overcome life’s obstacles. I believe individuals possess the resiliency to discover their strengths with guidance in therapy. Through therapy one can elicit strengths to bring about hope, balance, and change in life. I utilize a more collaborative approach to therapy including Collaborative, Narrative, Solution - Focused, and Strategic Family Therapy. However, there is not one theory that fits all challenges. The client is the expert on their life; therefore, as the therapist, collaboration is key to unlocking their potential.

I work best with an individual who may experience self-doubt, low self-esteem, unreasonable fears, depression, stress, and anxiety that sometimes may accompany serious illnesses. I also work with people who are grieving a significant loss, experiencing adjustment disorders because of a life changing event, addicted to alcohol or drugs, involved in a failing marriage, challenged by raising a family, or experiencing a professional burnout. I help you to focus on how unused potential, or being consumed by negative thoughts, can lead to missed opportunities. I will guide you to develop coping skills that will eventually lead to better outcomes in the future.

Have you ever been at a point in your life where things just aren't going the way you would like them to? Maybe you are feeling down and do not know why. Maybe you are going through a difficult time with your partner and need help navigating those challenges. Most people that engage in therapy are just ordinary people who are struggling with common, everyday issues. There are times when we need someone to talk to who will truly listen with nonjudgmental understanding.

Final exams and the end of the school are rapidly approaching. Your teenager is stressed, depressed, or a combination of both. They don't seem to be able to maintain focus , lack motivation and are under-performing in school. They might have suicidal thoughts, be self-harming, or have turned to alcohol or drugs to cope. You are worried about their future, but don't know where to turn. I can help. Most of my clients are middle and high school students. I speak TikTok and Instagram. I have tattoos, wear Vans, listen to alternative music, and love a good meme. In short, I connect very well with teens and their parents.

Divorce Therapists

How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?

Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?

There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?

When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
