Your
relationship
is worth fighting for, but it shouldn't be something that you fight over. Though finances, sex, religion, and spiritual faith can be common issues that people argue over, there are many more things that challenge relationships, and I've had the benefit and pleasure to help many people in diverse relational difficulties. You are not alone, quite literally every adult has faced difficulty within relationships. Whether there has been infidelity, loss of trust, abusive tendencies, lost connections, lack of relational congruency or cohesion, poor communication, family problems, commitment issues, or irresponsibility.

Two words: life happens! Therapy helps us live more purposeful, self-aware lives. There is nothing sweeter, to me, than healing trauma and breaking chains. Trauma seeps through many aspects of our lives, and if we're not careful, can drastically alter our response to the world around us. It is important to move toward existing in the world the way we choose to exist, not what's projected onto us. Also, life happens in the context of relationships; therefore,
couples
therapy sets my soul ablaze.
Couples
seeking to grow or overcome obstacles is incredibly intimate work. I am honored to walk alongside and help heal your covenant.

Does it seem like emotions are taking over your life – anxiety, hurt, anger, sadness? Are you struggling with grief, trauma, or other life transitions? Are you noticing relationships are becoming more difficult and problems are surfacing at home, work, or school? Are you turning to coping tools that may help in the moment, but are starting to make things worse overall - drug use, unhealthy relationships, isolation, or other behaviors? Are you losing sight of yourself, the person you want to be, and the strengths you have? If you identify with any of these questions, know you are not alone.

I hope to utilize my skills and provide an atmosphere of unconditional positive regard to build a trusting
relationship
which enables clients to push through difficulties and navigate the uncomfortable space where transformation takes place.
I enjoy working with young people and adults as they move along their paths of self-discovery and become the best version of themselves. Throughout the life journey, challenges are presented which offer each us to opportunity to grow. In the process of growth, we contend with uncertainty and often experience discomfort. A variety of therapeutic tools such as eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and action methods can be utilized in order that adults and adolescents, can be supported as they navigate the unknown paths related to past events, current challenges and future desires.

I have been providing therapeutic services since 2007, and as a wife, mother, grandmother, entrepreneur, counselor and student, I understand the many hats a person wears to manage life. I understand the challenges that occur when you attempt to balance your life as things are falling apart. I am always humbled when clients entrust me to join them on their journey to healing, and I never take that trust for granted. I believe a professional partnership between a therapist and a client should be treated with empathy and integrity. I strive to be a good steward of that partnership.

I will teach you to communicate effectively and strengthen your bond to your child,
spouse
, or co-parent.
Being a parent is hard. Being a Christian parent, to a hurting child, in a secular world, is even harder. Your child, or even you, may be struggling with anxiety or other mental health or behavioral concerns. You want your child to talk to you and tell you how they're feeling. You want to know what to say to comfort them and what to do when they're in a crisis. You want answers to all the questions swirling in your head and heart right now. I can help you answer them by teaching you about powerful, prayerful parenting.

Maybe your
partner
has struggled with their faith and it has changed the way you felt your marriage would be.
You never imagined spirituality or faith could produce heartache and turmoil in your life. Something that once invoked peace and strength for you, perhaps now prompts questions and uncertainty. It is ok to reevaluate what you believe, and determine how your current values fit into your present life situation! Sometimes new experiences, personal growth and increased awareness can shed light on how your old thoughts, feelings and emotions are no longer serving you well. Maybe you are struggling with how to handle others’ responses to the changes you have made in your life.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
