Rachel's areas of strength are trauma focused, anxiety, anger management, and depression.
In our first session, we will get to know one another. We will discuss your background and how you reached your decision of taking the step towards being a better version of yourself. We will work together to set up goals that you would like to accomplish within the first three months. Next, the client can discuss any additional areas that they would like to focus on for their treatment. I love working with clients that want to put in the work outside of therapy. Therapy is not easy, but as long as the common denominator is consistency then the mindset will be able to focus on the positivity.

With over 20 years of experience working with families and youth as a Professional Counselor, School Counselor, Family Education Specialist, certified Personality Insights Analyst, and Neuroeducational Specialist, I recognize each individual as a person of value, regardless of their history or current struggles. We identify where you have been and how that equips you to set positive future goals. I, too, have faced challenges in life, and I have learned that they do not define me; instead, they provide new knowledge and serve as a springboard for personal growth. I see the best in people, even when they can't see it themselves.

My ideal client? Someone who knows life can feel heavy sometimes—whether it’s grief, anxiety, depression, addiction, or just feeling stuck in the same old cycle. They don’t have to wait until everything is falling apart to ask for support. What they’re really looking for is a space to breathe, reflect, and heal. A place to untangle the messy, rediscover their strengths, and move toward peace—whether that’s reconnecting with it or finally experiencing it for the first time.

I was drawn to the field of counseling because of the desire to be present and a support for people in life’s difficult moments. I aim to create an environment that allows each person to feel safe and open to explore their experiences. I believe we each have the ability to create positive change in our lives; sometimes we just need some support and encouragement during that process. It is my belief that we each have inherent value, and because of that - I utilize a strengths-based approach that fosters hope, as you process your story.

For any relationship to be truly healthy, good communication is key. Yet oftentimes communication can be hampered when having to navigate tough conversations, differing opinions, and the everyday noise of life. It is important to know that broken communication patterns don’t have to be the norm forever.

I've had the privilege of working in a variety of settings, with individuals, couples, and families experiencing different challenges. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you, and to walk together to heal, to unlock your potential, and to achieve your goals. Being from a different country has become a strength in my practice to naturally be culturally sensitive in my sessions and to have more meaningful interactions with my clients of different backgrounds.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
