Delayna Choat, LMFT, Individual & Couples Therapy
Marriage & Family Therapist, LMFT

I'm trained in family systems, attachment, Internal Family Systems, and trauma-informed approaches.
I specialize in the full arc of creating lasting change, helping adults and couples move beyond anxiety, ADHD concerns, trauma, perfectionism, people-pleasing, burnout, low self-worth, painful relationship patterns, and communication difficulties. Many of our struggles began as strategies to help us cope, achieve, connect, belong, or stay emotionally safe. Together, we explore how earlier experiences, attachment patterns, unresolved pain, and life transitions shape your relationships, sense of self, and emotional well-being. My goal is to help you move beyond survival and into a more authentic, connected, and fulfilling life.

Shana Avery, LMFT, Individual & Couples Therapy
Marriage & Family Therapist, LMFT

I am trained in family systems, attachment, and trauma.
I work with both individuals and couples who are longing for deeper connection, healing, and understanding. Relationships can be hard, especially when old hurts or well-worn patterns keep showing up. If you and your partner find yourselves stuck in cycles of conflict, distance, misunderstanding, or sexual concerns, you’re not alone. Often, partners bring different attachment styles into a relationship. One may lean in, pushing for closeness, resolution, or reassurance, while the other pulls away, hoping to calm things down or avoid making it worse. Over time, this cycle impacts other parts of your relationship, including sex.

Are relationship dynamics, family tension, or the patterns you keep repeating leaving you feeling stuck and disconnected from who you truly are? Whether the struggle is personal, between partners, or felt across the whole family, it rarely exists in isolation — and neither should the solution. You don't have to untangle it alone, and you don't have to choose between getting help as an individual or getting help together. In addition to individual therapy, I specialize in couples and family therapy, helping you gain deeper insight into your patterns and become more of who you truly are.

In my gentle yet strategic approach, I regularly draw on EMDR, Brainspotting, and IFS through the lens of attachment and the mind-body connection.
Are you tired of being hard on yourself but not sure how to change what's stuck? Are you seeking a sense of purpose and meaning in an uncertain world but not sure where to start? My clients tend to be resilient yet exhausted, and longing for connection–to themselves, family, community, spirituality, or all of the above. Some of us have simply carried too much for too long and are ready to shed what is no longer serving us. As a somatic and intuitive therapist substantially trained and experienced in evidence-based modalities, my approach is holistic and honors the mind, body and spirit.

I integrate science with tools like EMDR, IFS, CBT, and DBT to treat psychological stuckness.
There's a version of you that isn't carrying all of this. Perhaps you have become discontent with yourself or burdened in your relationships, uncertain of your passions, or hopeless about the future. You may find yourself overusing social media, Amazon, chatbots, daydreams, sex, or substances to experience relief, but it's not enough for lasting change. Maybe you have already tried therapy, medications, or other self-care strategies, but they were not enough to solve the underlying issue. Perhaps this time - it can be different. With the right kind of help, the cycle can stop repeating.

Hi, I’m Grace! Many of my clients come to therapy feeling like they’ve been holding their breath for years. They have insight built from years of trying to "fix" themselves, yet still feel stuck in patterns of perfectionism, people pleasing, and shame rooted in trauma, loss, and painful relationships. Many have learned to hide or disconnect from parts of their identity to feel accepted, safe, and loved. Therapy with me looks like slowing down so we can dig deep and experience what is underneath the surface. You’ll reconnect with your authentic self, rebuild your capacity to truly feel, and reclaim your sense of meaning and agency.

Life does not discriminate -- it presents all of us with challenges, adversities, and opportunities. Sometimes going through difficult experiences allows us to emerge with a renewed sense of self and a fresh recognition of our inner strengths. But this kind of transformation isn't a given. Sometimes pain is unrelenting and pushes us to find new ways to cope and new avenues for understanding. Seeking help shows your courage and your motivation to find your way...

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
