I’ve been a licensed psychotherapist for many years and now retired. Over the span of my career, I’ve worked with children, adults and families to help them achieve a higher quality of life. This is why people seek out therapy. I recognize when people experience symptoms of mental health conditions, such as anxiety, adult ADHD, depression, stress, or struggles that arise in work, friends, close/marital and family relationships can often lead to feeling trapped. If you’re seeking help to overcome these challenges that stand in the way of living the quality of life you want, I can help.

If you’ve ever thought, “Why do I keep doing this even though I know better?”, you’re in the right place. Maybe anxiety is running the show, life just threw you a plot twist you didn’t sign up for, or your relationships feel more like group projects where no one’s communicating. You’re insightful, capable, and maybe a little exhausted from overthinking everything. You don’t need someone to just nod and say, “that must be hard” (although yes, it is hard). You need someone who will help you connect the dots, understand how your nervous system is responding to stress, call out the patterns, and actually do something about them.

Life can feel overwhelming, especially after major challenges like cancer, anxiety, depression, ADHD, or big life transitions. You may be struggling with self-doubt, emotional exhaustion, or feeling stuck. Cancer survivors often face fear of recurrence, identity shifts, and the challenge of moving forward. If anxiety or depression is weighing you down, it can feel impossible to find clarity. My goal is to help you rediscover your strength, build resilience, and create a path toward healing—whether through therapy, Pastoral counseling, or Neurotherapy.

Therapy only works if it actually feels right, and finding the right fit can be the hardest part. I try to make that easy. You will know pretty quickly if this is a space where you can breathe out, be honest, and start doing real work. I am a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas (English and Spanish). I work with teens, young adults, and adults on anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, identity and self-esteem, ADHD, burnout, career stress, and the kind of cultural stress that comes from living between worlds.

Are you and your partner caught in the same argument for the 400th time, or are you an individual who is just plain tired of being 'fine' while secretly feeling stuck? Maybe you’re navigating life transitions that feel less like a 'new chapter' and more like a 'choose your own adventure' book where every page is on fire. Whether it's a relationship that feels disconnected or past experiences that keep crashing your present, you deserve a space where you can be exactly who you are—”messy parts and all."

I help people with distressing anxiety, depression, trauma, relational problems, anger, and substance use.
My ideal client is someone who feels stuck, overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by past experiences, trapped by feeling low, is volatile at times, uses substances to cope…and is interested in exploring ways to feel better. The idea of making difficult changes sparks feelings of ambivalence. My ideal client need not be “ready” for change but is at least open to the idea. This person is looking for human connection and is willing to consider strategies to aid in reducing suffering and improving mental health.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
