While I have particular expertise in the perinatal and postpartum periods, including fertility challenges, pregnancy, new motherhood, perinatal loss, and postpartum depression or anxiety, I also work with women navigating identity shifts, relationships, career transitions, trauma, grief, and emotional overwhelm.
My therapeutic approach combines psychodynamic therapy, which explores how past experiences shape current patterns, with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients build resilience, self-awareness, and live a valued based lifestyle.

There is a way passed what you're going through. Maybe you've asked your friends and family and you're not getting anywhere. Maybe you haven't talked to anyone about it at all. You're not broken, you're not too much, and your absolutely worth the work you can do in therapy. Sometimes you know something is wrong but don't know what or where to begin. Sometimes you know exactly where to begin but are not convinced there is a solution. If your reading this, something in you is ready to try, so let's talk.

Empathy, trust, shared presence. My belief is the process of therapy helps bring self-awareness to the strengths that one may not realize they have. Being human, we all face challenges and obstacles, but with non-judgmental support and understanding, inner strengths may flourish to face life's stressors in healthier, productive ways.

As a perinatal sex therapist, my approach is relational, getting to know you while grounded in practical tools you can actually use on the hardest days.
One person wants sex, the other person wants an emotional connection. It's a standstill. Sound familiar? Intimacy isn't something we're taught how to do, and it's hard to be vulnerable. Whether you are struggling to connect with your partner or trying to find your way back to yourself through this growing season. I help women and couples find connection again that feels authentic to themselves and each other. No more just agreeing to maintain the peace, but instead truly feeling seen and valued. Sessions with me are laid back. I value connection and humor as well as meeting you where you are. Let's walk this journey together.

Feeling overwhelmed, confused, stressed, lost? Yearn to connect with life, yet, often become stuck? Navigating through life disconnections - with our spirit, families, partners, friends, work - can be exhausting and overwhelming. You have already tried going to your life "toolbox" (faith, family, friends, chocolate...). Together we can explore feelings, figure out how our own inner stories are actually adding to our stress, reconnect with our inner power to experience love, acceptance, and be our authentic self. Asking "How am I ever going to figure out..." is a good starting place. I can walk with you as we try to figure it out.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists
What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?
In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
