I primarily work from a psychodynamic perspective that seeks to understand individuals’ unconscious motivations and desires that contribute to our conscious life. I am comfortable discussing any issue that you might bring up and can aid in helping you achieve a healthier and more fulfilling life.

That is when I decided to become a therapist and help others through depression. Being human means we feel pain and at times we do not know what to do with all that pain. I have over 20 years experience working with adult couples and individuals. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist and specialize in couples counseling. My focus in treatment is to provide each person with tools they can use in the real world to make positive, permanent changes in their life.. My ideal client has the motivation and resources to make changes in their life outside of therapy. Couples often come in needing skills to have healthy relationships. We explore childhood wounds, and how they affect our adult relationships. Those willing to get out of their comfort zone and try something new benefit greatly.

I have been a professional social worker for over 10 years and have worked extensively in the field of co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders. I have experience working with both groups and individuals and am trained to address issues including PTSD, trauma, mood disorders, and perinatal mental health issues. I sought to be a counselor to help others become the best version of themselves in order to live their best lives. I am a retired Major in the United States Army with 23 years of military service. My military assignments have ranged from Topographic Non-Commissioned Officer, Horizontal Engineer Company Commander, Brigade Engineer Battalion Executive Officer, and Combat Engineer. I have dedicated my career to taking care of soldiers and their families. My husband, Daniel Carrizales, is a retired Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps. I have four girls (ages 27, 25, 22, & 17), two boys (ages 20 & 13), and five lovely grandchildren.

While many of the topics shared by my clients are hurtful and frightening, I also find humor can be helpful. As a first-generation Mexican-American, I am sensitive to the multi-cultural needs of my clients. I am fluent in Spanish and English and able to effectively provide therapy in the language in which the individual is most comfortable, in doing so, their goals have a higher probability of being achieved. My clinical experience has provided me with the abilities to work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues related to trauma, depression, stress management, grief, parental support, and substance use.

After earning her B.A. in Psychology, she went on to receive her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. Mary’s University. Carlos Velazquez is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Army veteran whose professional therapeutic experience centers on working with traumatized adults and children of all ages and their families.
