Do intrusive thoughts or anxiety keep you feeling stuck and overwhelmed? Maybe you’re battling the constant “what-ifs” of OCD, or struggling with codependency, past traumas, or life transitions. Does self-doubt hold you back, or do intense emotions leave you feeling lost? If this resonates, know you’re not alone, and there’s hope for change. I specialize in working with individuals ages 10 and up to help navigate OCD, anxiety disorders, and life’s many challenges. Together, we’ll work on understanding and reshaping unhelpful patterns, building tools to face anxieties head-on, and fostering resilience in the face of life stressors.

Life is a journey and how you choose to live in it every day is up to you and only you. Embrace what is right in front of you and move away from dwelling on the past. Set goals in order to live in the gift of today and strategize on what opportunities are ahead in your future. Everyone needs someone to talk to, everyone. Do you need to re-engage with life? Is something holding you back? Let's work together so that you can be free of internal critical voices, which often fuel unnecessary anxiety, fear, distraction and self-doubt.

I believe that a person is a whole being, with a mind, a body, and a spirit, and that often we are challenged in the balance and wellness of these parts of us. Every one of us encounters challenges and endures hardships throughout our lives that may upend the different parts of us that make us feel well and whole. Although we share this fundamental human experience, no one person’s journey to find this balance again is exactly the same and in therapy we will gently and compassionately work towards you rediscovering your own footing.

It’s been a rough few years, hasn’t it? Or maybe challenging times go way further back than that for you. You’re carrying the weight of a painful childhood, or trying to navigate a world that doesn’t welcome your authentic self. You feel frazzled and frantic….or maybe you’re so numb and shut down that it’s hard to connect with others—and your relationship with yourself is suffering too. You want to shed the shame you’re tired of lugging around, feel comfortable in your own skin, and show up more present in your own life. (Please note that I am not currently accepting clients or adding to my waitlist at this time.)

You are struggling with emotions, feeling out of control in managing these emotions and daily you feel like screaming, What The Fuck! Well, that is many of us who learn unhealthy ways in which to cope, so that we can tackle all of our daily responsibilities and show our strength and resilience to the people in our lives. This can only be done for so long, until you actually feel yourself unable to keep the real emotions inside of yourself. That is not a healthy way to exist, although up to this point it has worked. This is your way of surviving childhood trauma, complex trauma and emotional pain but now you want to thrive!

Life can present difficulties. Whether those difficulties have presented themselves throughout life or they are unexpected, we were never meant to go through them alone. Anxious feelings and thoughts can force us to feel stuck and halt the growth that we desire. Working through memories and fears to continue our life growth can create and improve the life we were meant to live.

You might be anxious, dreading each day, stuck, and angry carrying pain and trauma and really wanting to find a way to be free of memories, shame, and panic attacks so you can live your best life. You might question how others seem to get life “right” because their social media posts don't look anything like how you feel. Relationships are suffering, and you don't want to pass these feelings on to those you love. You want to be free, confident, happy, and at peace with who you are as a person and the future that is yours yet to live.

Many people come to therapy feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves. You may be carrying the weight of difficult experiences, complicated relationships, or systems that have left you feeling unseen or misunderstood. Perhaps you’ve spent years caring for others while quietly struggling to care for yourself. My clients are often thoughtful, self-aware people who want something to change. They may be navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, identity exploration, or major life transitions. What they share is a desire to feel more grounded, authentic, and at peace in their lives and relationships.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
