Transpersonal Therapists in San Antonio, TX
My style is primarily humanistic as I'm passionate about Gestalt therapy and transpersonal therapies, as well as parts work and EMDR trained.
Hello fellow traveler! My practice is grounded in trauma informed care but inspired by the expansion of human awareness. I am a deeply sensitive and curious therapist. I love to use metaphors, poetic improvisation, archetypes, body movement, meditation, and lots of humor in my practice. I am deeply touched and inspired by topics related to feminism, de-colonization, psychedelic therapies, LGBTQIA+ community, the Latino movement, religious cult survivors, and the non-monogamous experience. I strongly believe in relational therapy, which means that I foster a warm and safe space where people feel free to be who they are with me!

When people ask you how you’re doing, is the first thing you say, “I’m tired but I’m good” but you know you’re really not. Whether at work or in your home life, when anyone needs help or support of any kind, people rely on you because they know they can count on you. You’ve always put everyone else first. But lately you're exhausted you are all the time, you really need to learn to say no and set some boundaries but you don’t even know where to start. The thought of it makes you feel paralyzed with guilt. But showing up for everyone else is taking a toll. You’ve been cycling between being anxious and depressed.

It is an honor to witness the healing process as it unfolds within individuals who enter psychotherapy. Each of us has the potential to live our best life and heal from past traumas or disappointments. When we care for ourselves, we are able to have much deeper and more meaningful relationships with others. I work with people who have chronic mental illness and/or have experienced trauma and need support in stressful situations. I also help people who want to get to know themselves better or have a deeper understanding of self. I often refer to the unconscious and attachment relationships to help people gain insight.

Something in you knows there is more — more to who you are, more to how life can feel. Maybe anxiety or overwhelm has settled in, quietly reshaping your days. Maybe old wounds or unprocessed trauma are driving patterns you cannot seem to break. Perhaps your relationships feel stuck in the same cycles of conflict, loss, or miscommunication. You are not broken. You are someone with a history, a culture, a story — and an innate wholeness waiting to be recognized.
At Nichols Counseling, I begin with an in-depth interview to truly understand what you are facing. Together, we create a plan and pay close attention as old patterns

Depth therapy for grief, loss, trauma, transition, and life's deeper questions. You may have come here because something in your life has changed or is changing, and can no longer be set aside. I work especially with adults navigating major life transitions, facing grief, or working through complex trauma, and caregivers and partners of people with serious or chronic illness.

How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.
How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.
Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.
What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
